So, uh, does this mean we won't be celebrating the 24th anniversary of L.E.G.I.O.N. this year?

Default DC Editorial doesn't 'get' the character.

I mean, DC made a big deal out of Superman turning 50, why not 75?
Didio, Johns and Lee don't really understand the character. They emphasize Batman and Green Lantern over Superman and its been going on for at least five years now.

DC hasn't really been DC since Didio took over in my opinion. He's really screwed up the brand, again, my opinion. There have been some sucessess, but a whole lot more failures.
If the shoe fits: "a crankly old man standing just on the edge of a crowd gathered for a concert and stamping his feet yelling at the crowd to stop having fun, that they don't know what fun is."

Just because they don't keep everything in continuity doesn't mean they're ignoring all their history. That's simply ridiculous. DC have kept quite a lot in continuity and the mere act of publishing Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman stories acknowledge their history as that's where those characters came from.

Blame the crappiness of the Post Crisis age and readers negative response to it as the reason why Superman has been suffering. Like Wonder Woman, DC have been throwing their top talents at Superman and readers have instead prefered the stories coming out of Batman and Green Lantern. They put Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely on Superman resulting in the best Superman story of all time so they have at least one success and they put Jim Lee, Azzarello, Johns, Rucka, Robinson, Perez and JMS on Superman and whilst I would only consider Morrison a breakout success, DC still put effort in.

Look at the DC relaunch. DC put Snyder on Batman whilst they put Morrison and Perez on Superman. Nobody cared about Snyder that much outside of a cult Vertigo series and one Batman story whilst Morrison and Perez are legends of the industry. It isn't DC's fault Snyder put out vastly superior and accessible work (even though Morrison is my favourite writer and overall infinitely superior than Snyder, I do find Batman way better than Action). Geoff Johns made the Green Lantern franchise and made a name of himself out of it.

Batman's success came out of Nolan films whilst Superman wasn't helped by Returns. Nolan didn't have any big blockbuster films before Begins and just smaller indie pictures whilst Singer recharged the comic book movie genre with X-Men. Warner Bros clearly had more faith in Returns than Begins. Not WB's fault Returns was a boring waste of nostalgia fueled time.
