Actually, I should mention that there is a flaw with Miles and it's that he seems to win every fight way too easily with one of his powers that Peter never had, so the book is sort of losing a bit of lustre because of that.

And I agree with you, it's been a long time coming but I too am falling out of love with the UU. I've already cancelled my subscription to Ultimates, which is a big step for me, and there's only 2 more books plus a mini.

I think the best thing that could happen would be a sort of resuffeling of the UU history and change the outcome of Ultimatum a bit and go from there. keep peter's story (and bring him back), keep miles, trash the whole cap for president thing etc. Keep the good, throw away the bad.

It needs to get back to what it was good at. and that was essentially before ultimatum.

Yah I think the line will eventually just be Ultimate spider-Man and just mini-series afterwords. especially if they are just going to do a time skip.

Ultimates 3 is still pretty awful so they are going to have to change that. But the problem with your idea is that those are your beliefs on what is bad right now and I'm not necessarily saying they are wrong but what standard will they go by if they changed everything? your standard, my standard? trash one thing and to someone else it might be gold. It's not a bad idea but can it ever be done? No. Because the readers don't own the comic books the company does.

Sure, I get what you are saying and of course you are right. But things like Ultimatum are pretty obvious for all. I don't remember anything being hated on as much as Ultimatum (maybe Clone Saga 616?). The big problem with Ultimatum isn't that it was crap. The problem is that it was crap and had definitive and long lasting repercussions. So it's not about deleting ALL the crap that has happened in the UU. I think we all agree that Ultimatum was a lot more defining for the whole line than some Kirkman issues on X-Men or Ultimates 3.

The whole point of making the UU was to write stories that 616 couldn't get away with besides, its got some of the best selling comics as of now. Besides, Ultimate Spider-Man is what got me into comics, and im never looking back. Thank god this merge isn't happening, right?

Actually, the whole point was to create an updated version of the Marvel Universe, only after did they come up with that idea (after Ultimatum - woops) And it's comics aren not selling all that well (especially comparing to what it used to be). It's not even in the top 50 i Think,

But here is the problem, just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean you SHOULD. They COULD make Miles Morales a serial rapist that eats out of Aunt May's skull.....but SHOULD they? Just because you can't do it in 616 magically makes it acceptable. You still need to have an internal censorship ability to filter out the bad ideas.

Marvel failed to keep that internal filter, and the line suffered because of that.

Honestly, what they should do is just restart the line. A new Ultimate universe. You can keep the awesome revisions of characters (Venom, Dazzler, etc) and reimagine the ones that were just "616 in new clothes".
