Default Justice League In Search of a New Writer?

Some potential bad news here, folks. As we have come to learn, WB have been waiting to see how Man of Steel performs box office/reception wise before they make any advancements on their Justice League project. The previously scheduled 2015 release is however in a bit of trouble according to Bad Ass Digest and their sources.

The script (from Gangster Squad's Will Beal) is apparently just "flat out terrible". So bad in fact, that sources are telling BA Digest that WB is losing faith in the project and may scrap it altogether. Other sources however, claim that they are not quite ready to throw in the towel and let Marvel win just yet.

The script is said to deal with Darkseid and the five core members that were recently confirmed by Latino Review (Supes, Batman, WW, GL & Flash). The sources are calling the script "half-baked from the beginning", and heroes outside the main five have been added and subtracted throughout development. It is due to this terrible script that WB have been hard pressed to find a director willing to commit to the film.

As is usual with these sort of things, its best to take it with a pinch of salt. One thing is for certain though, I wouldn't expect to see a Justice League movie to arrive in the summer of 2015 by any stretch.

Yeah, I've heard those rumors before- the script being so bad being the main reason why directors are refusing to have anything to do with it.

Much ado about very little. Script rewrites are par for the course in Hollywood.

No big. It's pretty much SOP for scripts for big summer blockbusters to pass through a bunch of hands before the end up on the screen. The auteur principle rarely comes into play for movies like these.

Yup. Like the Iron Man rewrites. And Thor. Captain America. Avengers.

Remember the time WB should have just given up already? It's obviously not meant to be.

Mixed feelings over this if it's true - I'd hope at least that Warner and DC might reconsider sticking to the safe guns of Batman, Superman, Green Lantern and co and actually use guys and gals like Martian Manhunter, Cyborg, Black Cannary and Aquaman. And I seriously don't want this film to be rushed for the sake of Warner panicking over Avengers and X-Men films doing things right. Anyway, least there's Man of Steel, Wolverine, Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World to look forwards to this year.

DC/WBs needs to swallow it's pride and copy Marvel's strategy! People will get over/forgive the fact they copied Marvel if they put out a good product. At the end of the day, we all just want to be entertained by a good film when we go to the movies. If they do solo films first and lead into the Justice League, I'm sure it could be huge.

Sadly true. Build with Man of Steel. If thats a hit then have a Batman reboot based in that universe, then make more movies as followed. From the looks of things their approach isn't working so why not take Marvel's approach.

Millar definitely makes a good point about Aquaman, it's gonna be hard getting him right let alone the rest of a story.

The biggest reason for all the problems is that the Hollywood execs/producers at WB are completely inept. If Time Warner allowed DC to set up an independent studio like Marvel, Pixar or LucasFilm I have no doubt comics people would be able to get it right. Instead, WB lets people like Jon Peters have a say.

I agree with the stuff above - I'd much rather have solo Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and other flicks ala Marvel before Justice League. Plus a sensible Batman reboot which allows the character to co-exist with the more fantastical, and for Warner and DC to decide how to approach Green Lantern after the first movie - keep Reynolds and try harder with the second film, or start over, or consider a semi-reboot by say introducing John Stewart's GL as the focus whilst retaining some cast.

As it stands beyond Man of Steel, the only thing DC is planning within movies which I have fairly strong confidence in is this Del Toro Supernatural Heroes Project.
