So stoked. Love me some Kick-Ass.
Today, I make no demands... no threats! But, one day, I shall voice demands -- and all shall obey them!
Was it ever confirmed that before he took Kick Ass from Marvel, the Kick-Ass continuity was supposed to be in the same universe as that 1980's "real world" Marvel comic Millar wrote?
Finally! May can't come soon enough.
I seriously can't wait for this![]()
Avengers Arena is one of the best books in the shops right now, it's seriously amazing.

I guess that means Romita's off Captain America at some point?
I like that Millar chose to reduce the scale of the story from 5 to 4 volumes and that Kick-Ass 3 will wrap up the saga. No need to drag things out for the sake of profit. If the story has run it's natural course, just let it end.
I do not recall this being the case. The only overlap with the Marvel Universe I remember was that two characters featured in 1985 eventually found their way into the MU proper (Clyde Wyncham and Jerry Goodman).
I don't think that Millar ever "took" Kick-Ass from Marvel. I don't ever remember it being something other than a creator owned Icon book. Marvel simply gets their cut and handles distribution, afaik. As far as Kick-Ass being set in the world of 1985, that seems highly unlikely. Marvel 1985 tied itself back into the 616 by making the character Clyde Wyncham's future self The Marquis of Death, also Doctor Doom's mentor. Additionally, a version of Clyde was inserted into Millar's Old Man Logan. While it's possible to have a tangential Clyde connection in Kick-Ass, I don't think that they'd tie the books into one another. 1985 got too tied into the Marvel owned properties.
EDIT>>> Anybody else get the feeling that either Dave or Mindy are going to end up dying at the end of Kick-Ass 3? With Dave, it'd make sense to have him make a noble sacrifice and prove that, in the real world, there's no Phoenix Force or anything like that to allow people to come back from the dead. For Mindy, it'd be both bittersweet and tragic. She'd end up like Big Daddy, which I think she wants at this point - hallucinating that she sees his ghost and such. Plus, she could make the noble sacrifice and go out in a bloody blaze of fury. Either way, I'm convinced that one of them will end up dead, which would lend credence to the idea of no punches being pulled.

I would have preferred another hit girl book because I love her but getting just one series of her was more then enough. It is sad to see these characters go, but it has been a fun ride and I can't wait until May for the final saga to begin. Kick Ass has been one of the greatest new comics in the past few years.
