Miss America Chavez? Batwoman? Storm? Mara (From Brian Wood)? Boy (From Invisibles)? All the characters from Saga aside from the Will? It is not patronizing to write people of color into comics. Stop confusing tokenism for diversity.
Grow up in Scotland in the 70s and see how many non white people you know. The only way a non white person would come to mind for a lead would be tokenism, or at the behest of an Editor who sees stuff like this thread saying yeah the story sounds great but we need more diversity... Disingenuous... Patronising. If he grew up in the US, maybe. But elsewhere, no.

Came into this thread to find it WAAAY off topic. Trolling like this doesn't help.

Back on topic - Quietly's art is great, but I still need good writing to go along with. Will have to hear more & see some previews before committing.

Millar is the guy who made Nick Fury black, and it impressively stuck with the character and Avengers mythos.

Mark Millar... has been off in his writing lately. As such, I'm not sure if this will actually be good or not. Then there is Frank Quitely, an artist I really could care less about. Though this art here looks better then anything else he has drawn by the simple fact this people don't always look old or look like they are squinting half the time.

Err... I'll give it a shot. I'll read it in the store, but I seriously doubt this will change my mind on either of these two. Can't say I won't completely write it off.

Trolling? People come here and unnecessarily complain about the creative team and lack of diversity, so I try to defend them by offering a rational excuse and I'm "trolling"? Trolling is having a go at the creative team over lack of diversity.

Much to the ire of many people, now imagine if he had went through with his original idea of making Cap black and see how pissed people would be other then still being pissed about the Truth mini

Millar is far from being a pusher of diversity comics however as one just has to look at Kick Ass to see yeah he may take a couple steps forward but he's more then willing to go several steps backwards.

On topic I'm getting this for Frank's art only

I buy pretty much all Millarworld stuff and even some of his Marvel stuff (love Old Man Logan) and the same goes for Quitely, whose acknowledged Moebius inspirations are everywhere. This is going to be great.
    Continuity doesn't matter.

It's not unnecessary. It's necessary. We have just achieved a wider, better recognition of women in mainstream from the big two because of your so called "unnecessary complaining". Stop making an excuse for lack of diversity and just accept it. Why is it so hard to accept that minorities are poorly represented in almost everything? I'm not attacking anyone. I'm clamoring for change. I want people to know and understand that people like us, we want to see ourselves reflected in comics, tv, movies, everything white people are reflected in. Unfortunately most of us have grown up with the myriad of white characters to look up to. It is now that we are seeing some change actually happen. Ultimate spider-man has shown that diversity is extremely important and lucrative to comic companies. Why would you make an excuse for that?
