I just don't see it that way. Now, if Han had that look everytime he killed soemone, then it'd be a different story.

How do you know all blasters have a stun setting? Where in any of the movies does Han say anything about his blaster having such a setting? Your Stormtrooper thing is pretty silly too, hell, I'm sure you know some of the people getting shot was toned down in the Special Edition from this:
Except when Stormtroopers are shot, you see scorch marks on their armor.

    Ergo, Han stunned the Stormtroopers.

Yeah, cause no "kill shot" would scorch the stormtroopers. Right. you guys will argue about anything.

The stun effect in most Star Wars media is presented as a blue circle thing, like what they used on Leia early on in the movie-although we don't see it in the movies beyond that (Although it's mentioned in ESB when Vader orders the boarding of the Falcon).

You hear the distinctive sounds of Han's blaster. Two shots as soon as the Stormtroopers are aboard and out of camera range.

    Correct.

VADER: "Good. Prepare the boarding party and set for your weapons for stun."

The other four films rely on kill shots, simply because the plot dictated kill shots. Same with stun blasts in the two OT films to feature it. Though I'd wager that a stun blast was used on Obi-wan in order to capture him. He wouldn't just surrender to a Droideka.

It showed up again in the most recent Clone Wars episode.

It's the way it was played, it's right up there on the screen (or it was). Han not doing the same thing ever time he kills someone doesn't discount the time he took joy in the fact he was about to kill some he knew...which is a important distinction: he knew Greedo, he didn't know Stormtrooper #5. They're two wholly different situations.

So he killed some of the Imperialist with a blaster, but then stunned others with a blaster aswell? Maybe that's just what happens when you shot Stormtrooper armor?

You keep talking about Han taking joy in killing Greedo. And in every version of that scene, he has the exact same expression. He does everything exactly the same way, and the scene plays out the same with the one exception of Greedo getting off a shot. So I ask you again, how does that change the character of Han. If anything it changes the character of Greedo and changes him from a naive overly talkative bounty hunter to one who was planning on killing Han regardless of the outcome of the conversation. Give me something concrete? I want to be convinced, but you aren't convincing me yet.

No, he doesn't have the exact same expression; that would be pretty impossible give the face that Han shoots Greedo in two totally different shots in the original version and the special editions. In the old version he smirks at Greedo while saying "I bet you have", and shoots him dead. Greedo's indicated he's going to kill him, but Han seems to be reveling in the fact that he knows he has the upper hand. Now, this scene is still in the movie, but it's different. Han isn't killing Greedo while saying or doing those things, he's just saying it in the SE...now it's just snark. So, in one version, Han shoots Greedo, while at the same moment taking joy in what he's doing. In the new version, he doesn't shoot first, now he just waits; only returning fire when he's fired upon. It's like he has a sense of honor or fair play, this new Han Solo waited until it's 100% clear you're really going to kill him before he shoots you.

Greedo doesn't change at all, besides being revealed to be a horrible shot.

Dude, you are so wrong. The scene is absolutely identical until the point of the shot. Absolutely identical. It is your interpretation that is faulty. There is no difference except for the moment of the shot. Your interpretation is based on NOTHING but your opinion that it changes his character. An opinion not supported by any change other than Greedo getting off a shot. They didn't reshoot the scene, they only added the additional shot from Greedo. And they happen almost in unison. Admit it, you are mistaken. Or are you going to deny the video evidence presented?

a little Off topic but there's also an alternate rough cut in black and white of the cantina scene on the blu-rays. It's very interesting and has an alternate mask for Greedo (Although still recognizably "Rodian"). The movie uses a more articulated mask (and I'm pretty sure it was a woman wearing the costume, while in the rough cut it appears to be a male British guy). Of course Han shot first in that version too-and has female companionship!

It also features some alternate looks and it's slightly amusing to hear the original voices for the bartender and the guy who harasses Luke.

Sheesh! Look's like I missed a very entertaining discussion regarding Han Solo and Greedo. Crap, I wonder how it went from discussing the upcoming movies to a knock down, drag out argument over Blaster settings and sadistic facial expressions before killing an unsuspecting victim?!?!

I am still waiting for Simbobs response to the video, which proves that there is no difference in the scene aside from the effects for Hans single shot vs. Greedo and Han both getting off shots.
