I love Batroc. His sense of whimsy, his personal code of honour.
This was a great story, which really showcased why Batroc is so damn awesome.

Over and over, the crow cries uncover the cornfield.
DC's war comics line had Mademoiselle Marie, French Resistance fighter. She was even a cover feature for a while.
This guy from X-Statix? Slightly less flattering. He turned out to be an American and part of a Bush Administration plot to make Americans hate Europe as part of the build-up to the Iraq War, but while he was in France he decided he loved it there and took it on as his adopted country.

Not many Cajuns live in New Orleans, according to Zeb Oswalt.

He doesn't speak Cajun French but he speaks bad standard French, according to a fellow forumer Zeb Oswalt. Cajun is a dialect distinct from Parisian/Metropolitan/Standard French. So is Quebecois French.
I believe Northstar and Aurora are speaking Parisian French instead of Quebecois French.

I am guessing that Chris Claremont, Fabian Nicieza and other X-Men writers never met a Cajun.
If Belgians and Cajuns should be included in here, then I'd also nominate Northstar & Aurora. Quebecois are not French citizens, and they also have developed their own dialect.
Quebecois French: Donne-moi-le pas
Standard French Ne me le donne pas
English: Don't give it to me.
Quebecois French: Donne-moi-z-en pas !
Standard French: Ne m'en donne pas!
English: Don't give me any!
Quebecois French: Je comprends qu'est-ce que tu veux dire.
Standard French: Je comprends ce que tu veux dire.
English: I understand what you mean.
Quebecois French: Mon frère, yé dans police.
Standard French: Mon frère est dans la police.
English: My brother is in the police.
Quebecois French: Y a l'air fâché, le chien.
Standard French: Le chien a l'air fâché.
English: The dog looks angry.
Quebecois French: J'ai trouvé le document que j'ai de besoin.
Standard French: J'ai trouvé le document dont j'ai besoin.
English: I've found the document I need.
Quebecois French: J'ai un enfant à m'occuper.
Standard French: Je dois m'occuper d'un enfant.
English: I must take care of a child.

Not seeing the relevance of that. Gambit lives in New York, I believe, like most Marvel characters; I know he was born in New Orleans.
He speaks English with a terribly done French accent. He doesn't speak Cajun French but he speaks bad standard French, according to a fellow forumer Zeb Oswalt. Cajun is a dialect distinct from Parisian/Metropolitan/Standard French. So is Quebecois French.
I believe that comicbook writers generally don't really know there's more than one kind of French.I believe Northstar and Aurora are speaking Parisian French instead of Quebecois French.
