I really like Pratt, I kinda want him to get leaner for the role though. Which considering the time he has before shooting he could pull off. I also noticed a lot of Everwood alums have been cast recently. I can so see Treat Williams as one of the residents of Titan or something.

Finally, we get something that isn't just wild speculation about this movie! I think Chris Pratt is a good choice, given his performance in Zero Dark Thirty. There are still many roles to fill, but this is a good start. I've never been a big fan of Guardians of the Galaxy, but I'm open to becoming one after seeing this movie.

Any recent fat Chris Pratt pictures are because he gained a ton of weight for a Vince Vaughn movie coming out later this year. He'll lose the the weight again.
He was pretty good in Moneyball also. And he was great in Wanted. He'll be fine.

This guy is the leader of the team so he'll be the one carrying the workload as he'll be the one talking the most. He , Drax and Gamora are the only ones being played by human actor/actress , the rest will likely be CG. I don't expect Drax to talk much as he's there just to kick butt and be the team's enforcer , with the moniker of Drax the destroyer , he's there to destroy stuffs.

See, I think those guys could do the drama and action chops, but I don't know if they'd be able to convey the humorous "wtf" sensibility that a human would face when finding themselves fighting alongside a talking tree and gun-toting raccoon. You need comedy chops to sell that acknowledgement of the absurd and Pratt has that. I think it's an unexpected but brilliant choice.

I think this is a fair assessment of Joel Edgerton, even though I think he's pulled off funny at times, but Sully Stapleton is funny as F in Strike Back.

Damn, no Lee Pace. I like the casting choice though, I just thought Pace had real potential to pull off the character as long as he buffed up a little. Anyway, who else thinks Rocket Raccoon should be voiced by Danny DeVito?

Current GotG and Star-Lord, pre-Bendis, were pretty funny characters in over-the-top situations. Star-Lord was pretty black about his humor. I think having some comedic timing for the role will be nothing but a boon.
