    Question Memorable Superman Fashions

I will admit, I am new to reading the Man of Steel, but the other day I picked up a run of Action Comics in the $0.50 bin (694-699 I believe), and discovered the beauty that is Superman's hair in the early 90s. It is glorious.

Are there any other Superman fashions that you particularly liked, hated, found hilarious? Other heroes are fine too. I love seeing how the characters evolve throughout the years.

I thought it was awesome. I grew up in the 90s. So long hair Superman is just as definitive for me as normal hair Superman. When done right I think it looks really cool and makes him look regal in a sense.

Over a time he got a little shorter and turned into regular long hair rather than a straight mullet style (Im positive it lasted longer because of that). I also like how the S curl is more prominent but less obvious too. Plus I like it because I've always had long hair myself.

I didn't really mind the long hair much.

I always loved Nightwing and Flamebird's costumes:

I also always loved the Silver/Bronze Age Jor-El and Lara's visuals:

Over and over, the crow cries uncover the cornfield.

I was going to bring that up as well. I think Superman Red/Blue is a good Super-esque modern redisign. Certainly more Superman-reminiscent than current ones. Though not as a permanent thing.

I also think the black suit and white suit (from Superman Returns) all look good too. The key to getting Superman is simplicity.

I'm not a fan of the current costume either...but to say that the Electric Superman suit was even vaguely reminicent of Superman is more than a bit off base. Take that lightening bolt 'S' off the suit and you wouldn't know that was Superman. The current DCnU suit, as flawed as it is, at least has the proper colors and the cape. You can take the "S" off and still say..."hmmmm...that dude looks a bit like Superman if it weren't for those god awful boots and lines all over." Electro-Supes looked like he should either be an ice skater or on a luge team!

Well yeah as an official replacement it doesn't work. But I think it works as a Superman-like design. Superboys original costume is a great example of why it works. It doesnt really try to be something of an update, its good on its own and its own thing.

The reboot can be hardly called a design, just a butchering. Youre more opt to go, "wtf happened to Superman's costume" than say its something new. As I quote from the people I've shown (Non comic fans)

    "What the hell happened"
    "Why is Superman wearing armor?"
"Are they trying to appeal to manga fans"
"He looks like an action figure"

Haha yes. The S is a little two abstract for me on Electric Superman, but its an interesting change. I've been reading Morrison's JLA lately and the character shines through the sparks and strange appearance. It really wasn't too distracting for me.
