Default Anyone subscribe to Avengers or Hawkeye by mail?

    Hey all,

I subscribed to Avengers and Hawkeye shortly before Christmas through Marvel.com since I was buying every issue anyway and they seemed cheaper that way. Avengers # 3 and 4 and Hawkeye # 7 shipped the last two weeks, but I still haven't received either. I've since cancelled the subscription, but am wondering if I'll ever receive the comics. Anyone else have the same problem?

    Thanks!

I've had a direct Marvel subscription in the past, and the issues always came late. I now have a mail sub through Midtown Comics.com, though I'm not sure it's cost effective with only two titles.

That's the bummer about direct subscriptions. The delay and lack of a predictable shipping schedule. That is a big reason as to why I drive out of my way to get books every week.

I subscribe to Avengers Arena, and it usually gets here between two and three weeks after the official release.

I would call and find out when your Sub started. Even though you subscribed before Christmas, it takes a few weeks for the order to be processed. There's a chance that your sub wasn't going to start with Ave #3, but I would think you'd at least start with HE #7 and Ave #4. If you check your account online, does it say that any have shipped? Even though you cancelled, you will still get them. Also, I think the cancellation process takes some time to go through as well. You may still get an additional issue before it really ends.

After having a horrendous 4-6 months when Midtown took over the service, its seemed to have gotten much better over the last month. I've pretty much been getting most of my issues within a week of release. Avengers #4 came out last week and I got yesterday. 6 days!

Midtown has been pretty reliable for me, though things did slow down a bit around the holidays. I don't think I ever got my comics more than a week late, and I usually have them by Fri or Sat (2-3 days). Things have been better since they stop shipping through UPS.

Are you subscribing directly through Midtown or through Marvel who uses Midtown was their provider?

Direct Subscriptions from Marvel are almost always late. I subscribed to "Runaways" for several years and the earliest I ever got an issue was three weeks late. More often than not they were six weeks late. Twelve weeks at the latest.

I wish I knew why...is this just normal with comic subscriptions? Are DC's this late? Heck, are most "normal" magazines released on the newsstand weeks before they're directly shipped?

I get that it's the trade-off for the convenience of not having to go the the LCS, but still...

I don't know about DC comics, but any magazine I have subscribed to usually arrive the same week they hit newstands.

Hey everyone! I'm glad I cancelled, although I did end up receiving two of the three issues I was supposed to. One of them (Avengers #3) is apparently missing, because issue 4 arrived today!

Yeah, it's sad that the service is so slow/messy. All the issues were bent in half and put in my mailbox, although that's more of a stupid mailman problem.
