... I am going to assume this is going to go past the point the hardcover stopped, and therefore I must buy it... I also love to support Ramos.

Its the same as the hardcover, just instead it will be 2 paperback issues that contain the same stuff that was in the hardcover. At least the story, any bonus stuff that was with the hardcover won't be in the issues.
Pull: All-New XMen, Avengers, New Avengers, Uncanny Avengers, Captain America, Indestructible Hulk, Avenging SpiderMan, Superior SpiderMan, Uncanny XMen, Chew, UC:Ultimates, UC:SpiderMan, UC:XMen.

I am not familiar with this but that preview looks pretty interesting. I may check up on this later as the price drops.

Sounds very similar to DC's Fables
Humberto Ramos is the WORST artist currently working. Amongst his many sins in drawing, either eyeballs take up half a person's face, or their mouth does. I guess he works real cheap and thats how he gets his assignments

All opinion, but he's actually one of the best, he just has a style a lot of people don't like. There are piles of generic, average comic artists around, but it takes actual talent to draw in a style like what Ramos uses and be consistent, as well as putting more detail into his artowrk than most comic artists do nowadays.

I did read an interview that made it sound like the comic would end up going beyond what the hardcover did... It wasn't anything specific, but see the hardcover ended on a pretty definite cliffhanger, I don't know why they would bother with putting out two single issues of a comic out that only barely sets up a story.

There is a ton of alternate universe fairy tale stuff now. As long as each one has its own take on it, I am OK with it. I read Fables up through the fall of the adversary then stopped. I have read some Zenoscope stories and see that there is a Damsels comic that looks like a different take on the fairy tale. So far, I have enjoyed most of it.

I think the art is pretty good and adds to the book, it compliments the story. It is just stylized. Some of my favorite comics have highly stylized art: The Goon, Chew, and Courtney Crumrin. When done well, the art adds to the narrative with its style in a way that straight up comic art, such as that in Superhero books, can't.

Of course its opinion. But to think that all the people who can't stand his artwork are just too ignorent to recognize greatness? And there is a diffence between good stylized art and bad. His manga-styled distorted faces and anatomy are consistantly absured. However you can enjoy the Fable rip-off to your hearts delight

I've got both issues on order as the hardcover was way too much for what it is, for what it's worth Ramos is one of my favorite artists working in mainstream comics today, I wish he'd hurry up back to Spider-Man.

No, but you stated that he is the worst artist in comics as fact, not opinion, and that his artwork is "distorted and absurd" is what actually makes it stylized. If his artwork wasn't unrealistic in some way it wouldn't be stylized.

Having read Fables up until the point where everyone headed out to live at the farm, I can say this isn't really a rip-off of it, especially since both this and Fables are 'stealing' from common fairy tales and folklore, not each other.

Yeah, this isn't a continuation, I think boom is just going to handle the digital end of this series.

Saying this is a fable ripoff is like saying Batman is a superman ripoff.

Very good issue. I reviewed it here (with some additional pictures from the book) and I thought it was good but not great. Shrek and other series have sort of done this before, but you can't beat Ramos.

My only real complaint is the font size seemed small to me for a comic. I had to read it in guided view as opposed to page view.

i liked it. ramos's art fits the initial preamble perfectly (an adult reading a story to a child), and the BB wolf looks awesome. fables set the bar really high, and they really turned it around with cubs in toyland (superteam was a huge letdown).

i agree with kakitamike - to say that fairy quest is a ripoff of fables is ignorant. its 2 completely different things. i enjoyed both
