There is gonna be more game tape to study against it as well. Running and stopping that. It reminds me when Vick exploded on the scene. It was a great 1st season , but after that ...teams had a season studying so well.

There was talk a few weeks back of Darelle Revis going up on the trading block. Anyone think this will happen?

The Jets denied they were shopping him, last I heard. I don't think it will. All the noise on that team is going to be about (and should be about) what their plans regarding Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow, and their next starter will be.

Well it was confirmed they were gonna likely shop Revis a week or 2 ago. Due to the fact the Jets are $19+ million over the cap and they owe Revis $6+ million this coming season and he'll be a free agent in 2013 and can't tag him due to his contract.

Sanchez if they cut him in Feb/March will owe him $15/16 million right off the top. The idea could be to cut him in June and the cap hit will be $7-8 million each season. Of course a lot of Jets players are loyal to Sanchez and Cromatarie (CB) came out days ago and claimed the Jets need better offensive players around Sanchez at the WR position. I could see the Jets trading Revis and cutting some players to get way below the cap and taking a serious run at Mike Wallace.

Lol I don't see why anyone would be loyal to Sanchez. Maybe he is a nice guy

I remember reading about a 17 year old girl that thought so.

Don't know if she had any reports of him butt-fumbling during their time together, though.

In the unlikely event that they really want to trade Revis, and in the vastly less likely event that they'd make a trade with the Patriots, I'd be OK with my Pats gambling that he'll be healthy and that he'll want to extend and giving up a 1st (and realistically a 3rd) to pry him away from the Jets. Take the best player (imo by far) of your closest division rival, vastly upgrade your greatest position of weakness, and get rid of a pick you were just going to trade for later picks anyway (or worse yet, going to use to draft a CB in this weak class of them and with your poor history of choosing even league-average ones on draft day). It's a complete what-if (or if you're a fan of Dave Dameshek, an N-if-L), but man I'd love to see it happen. If only for Jets fans to go nuts and start throwing themselves off the Empire State Building. Whoever they used that pick on would be deafened by the "boos" on draft day. Please NFL Jesus, make this happen.

If you are the Jets what is the point of paying Revis?

Ideally you would want your elite player to be your QB, your WR or your RB.

It doesn't do you a hell of a lot of good for your best player to be your cornerback when your O-line is mediocre at best and your Quarterback is finished (Sanchez may yet become a decent QB for another team but in New York? Finished).

Without a better QB/O-line the Jets are going to stink next year with or without Revis.

I'd actually go for finfangfool's trade if I could get a 1st and 3rd out of it.

It certainly makes more sense for the Jets to trade Revis. I wish I could remember the stats that Cowherd used a couple of weeks ago, but the Jets D was not that much worse without Revis on the field, and they need so much help at the offensive skill positions that getting even a 2 and a 4 for him is better than keeping him.

According to Pro Football Talk, Ted Ginn Sr thinks it's time for his son to move on. I find this laughable. Ten Ginn wasn't good enough for the Dolphins to have interest in keeping him and he manages to land on a team on the rise that is probably a favorite to go back next season. Come back to reality pops, your son is lucky he's even on a team for crying out loud! http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...san-francisco/

Yeah, I think Ginn was like 10th overall the year he was drafted and watching as many AFC East games as I have I can definitely say he was a bust. That he's a good special teams contributor on one of the best teams in the NFL is probably more than I would have expected for him a couple of years ago, he should definitely be thankful.

You don't trade a key player within the division unless you know that player likely won't do much. People questioned the Eagles trading McNabb to the Redskins inside the division. Here , Revis if he becomes a star stud player again after his injury , the fans will go ape shit crazy on the Jets. Because ya just gave the Patriots a key defensive star for the next 4-6 years.

Its said Oakland , Packers and the 49ers are looking at Revis. So he's gonna be traded outside the division. I would say the Packers may have the best chance of landing him for draft picks.

Ted Ginn Jr had issues dropping passes like crazy in Miami. I remember one game he dropped 2 straight TD passes on each drive. His dad is obviously looking at the wrong game tape of his son.

    NFL News...

    - The Detroit Lions are already getting a jump on things and have started cutting players. Stephen Peterman (Guard) , Kyle Vanden Bosch (DE) and Titus Young (WR) were all released the past 2 days. The Lions are expected to cut a few more players to get under the salary cap.

    - Walt Sweeney (OL) a standout player for the Chargers and Redskins has died. Sweeney played in the 1960's and 1970's . In 1996 he sued the NFL over claims that drugs the Chargers staff gave him , led to making him an addict. He won the case but later lost when the NFL appealed the ruling.

    - Colin Kaepernick has basically claimed within a week he will start work outs with team mates for the 2013 season !

    - The Oakland Raiders are in a very bad salary cap situation. Roster cuts are expected and its said Carson Palmer will be asked to take a pay cut from his salary. Also Heyward-Bey (WR) is due $10+ million next season and could be a salary cap cut.

so looking back at the 2012 NFL Draft how would you say teams did in retrospect.

    Best Drafts:

I'd say, the Ravens, Panthers, Bengals, Colts, Patriots and Redskins had the best drafts.

The obvious ones: Colts and Redskins drafted to amazing franchise QB's among other solid players

Replenishing the trenches: Ravens, Pats and Bengals got some great defensive picks that paid divedens this season.

Under Ozzie Newsome the Ravens always draft well. Courtney Upshaw was a great add to the front seven, especially with T-sizzle missing the first 6 games because of his ACL. Than RB Bernard Pierce gave the offense a nice two-back tandem. And Kelechi Osemele can play either guard or tackle and was very impressive when he came in to sure up that Baltimore offensive line just in time for the playoffs.

Cincinnati turned their defense into a top 10 beast via the draft. Dre Kirkpatrick and Devon Still are great players and that rooster has a lot of depth defensively.

Chandler Jones and Dont'a Hightower were great picks for the Pats. They contributed right away. The Pats actually have a decent defense again.

    Honorable Mention: Panthers

LB Luke Kuechly filled a huge need for the Carolina Panthers on defense, and was great next to Jon Beason. My man won rookie defensive player of the year what more is there to say. Also Frank Alexander provided solid depth on the defensive line for stopping the run and creating additional quarterback pressure.

    Worst Drafts

Cardinals, Falcons, Browns, Broncos, Steelers, 49ers

Cardinals: nuff said, I mean just a bad year in every regard

Browns: yeah Trent Richardson is good, but he didn't offset the suckiness from every other pick. I don't understand how the Browns aren't better they always have high draft picks, but they draft terribly. And anytime they get anything legit it won't stay for long, cause no one really wants to stay in Cleveland.

    Falcons: just a bad draft

Broncos: bad draft. They got Peyton Manning and had a phenomenal regular season so everyone kind of let it go, but looking back they didn't have a good draft at all.

Steelers: I was surprised at the Steelers draft. Usually they draft well, but this was not a good draft for them outside of Chris Rainey. DeCastro did get injured so I can't fully evaluate him, but all their other picks left more to be desired.

49ers: worst draft of 2012 hands down, which is ironic cause they went to the SB
