Yeah, you guys mentioning Bendis are correct, he definitely wrote more Spider-Man than anyone else, if we count Peter Parker alone
Ultimate Spider-Man 1- 133, also issue 1/2, 26 more issues, Ultimate Team-Up 1-16, 3 Ultimate Spider-Man annuals, and probably some of his guest appearances and a mini series or 2 including Ultimate Fallout
616 Peter Parker in his entire Avengers run, one back up story in an issue shortly after Amazing 600, and Spider-Men 1-5

    Stan Lee wrote these:
    Amazing Fantasy 15
Amazing Spider-Man 1-112 (minus issues 101-104, those were written by Roy Thomas)
Spectacular Spider-Man Magazine 1 (one story 52 pages long and another back-up feature showing his origin) & 2
Amazing Spider-Man Annuals 1-5, also Annual 18 (the Wedding of J.Jonah Jameson)
Amazing Spider-Man 600 back up feature with Marcos Martin
A mini series of 2 pages fold featuring Peter's weird blender time Machine with Marcos Martin
The guest appearances he wrote in other titles like X-Men and Avengers 11
And let's not forget the newspaper strip he's been writing on daily basis since 1977

And both of them wrote Spider-Man in animation, Bendis wrote 2 episodes of ultimate cartoon, Stan co-wrote the Alien Costume part 1

He brought back all the classic villains, tons and tons of guest stars and seemed to rely heavily on the fact he had three fan favourite artists in a row to work with. I say "unfortunately", because he seemed to stay on the character forever too.
This site has got me digging through a lot of my old comics again. Micheline was on Amazing, Kavanagh was on Web and Mackie was on Spider-Man, at that time. It's too bad about the stories in those issues. Espescially because there was this dynamite art team on the "Spider-Man" book then. Tom Lyle and Scott Hanna. Man, those guys were good. I just found stuff like Maximum Carnage and Infinity Gauntlet and Lifetheft robbed the character of the things that made him special to me. Guys like Stern, Dematteis and Straczynski really took the characters. Their deep and rich characterization paid off. When it came time for an action scene, it had a lot more impact because of the pace of the writing that led up to it. With a guy like Micheline, it seemed like, here's the punching bag of the month. Who's next?
One of my favourite all out action issues ever was Amazing # 197. It had an issue long slug fest with the Kingpin in it. But the reason it was so good was because of the build up Wolfman gave in the issues leading up to it.
    What do you guys think?
See I thought what Mackie did on Peter Parker was really solid. He did a nice job with Ben and giving him a supporting cast too. Made it feel like a Spidey title even it was someone else. Now what he did with the relaunch was awful.

And I didn't dislike Micheline all that much either. It might just be nostalgia as that is right around the time I really got into Spidey, but I loved his run. McFarlane into Larson was superb. I loved Bagley's art, but the stories did drop off a bit. Micheline might have suffered from being on the title too long.

You know, I think you're right.
He stayed on so long, that I forgot how intense those early Venom stories were.
Amazing #298-300, 315-317, 331-333 and espescially 345-347, were really good.
He should have left Eddie Brock on that island and never started with Carnage and all these other watered down symbiotes. It cheapened what was once a terrifying character.
Plus no one ever drew him as well as Macfarlane and Larsen did.

You can tell your new here. We never agree with each other, but rather bicker endlessly.

    Lol.
    I'll try to remember that.
As a French-Canadian who grew up in a Punk rock scene that had no use for comic/sci-fi/fantasy fiction, I just thought this was a cool forum to express your opinions about some great stories.
I'll try to be more argumentative in the future.
    Lol.

I will ignore 1977 and start with 1978 of the comic strips since that was Stan's first full year writing the newspaper strip
1978 -2012 is 35 years, 9 leap years in that time
Let's say every 3 days make one page
    12,784 strips through that time
    Roughly 4,261 pages
Let's consider each issue 22 pages long
That makes around 193 issues of Amazing Spider-Man on the newspaper strip alone

Stan Lee is the winner, he wrote more Spider-Man than even Bendis

No. I'm a Montreal Canadičns nut all the way.
We just got The Jets back, though. I think the Moose went to Nova Scotia.
