Its true. Most of the threads on the boards are built around complaints. The long running threads are mostly carried by complaints. This isnt a hard and fast rule, but its a solid generalization.

And saying that the lack of chatter proves that no one cares about Barry is sort of....completely off the mark. Flash doesnt get a lot of chatter here for the reasons everyone mentioned already. The book isnt pissing people off; its not terrible and its not gimmick-heavy. If the exact same stories were being told with the exact same creative team, only Wally was in the lead instead of Barry (okay, so some minor changes would have to be made for that) the sales and chatter would be largely the same. It would still be a lot of "solid title, nothing amazing or ground breaking, but solid reliable fun" and that sort of thing just doesnt generate a lot of discussion on this type of forum. And I say all this as a big Wally fan.

I love Flash and although I think his parents should still be alive, he still feels like Barry to me. Barry was the real everyman of comics, not Peter Parker. Peter was an orphan, a loner, etc...Barry Allen was the average guy who had one thing in common with the reader: like them, he was a comics fan and liked heroes. Anyone who has any kindness to them can project themselves onto Barry Allen. He's the guy we'd all like to have as a neighbor or a friend. That's Barry's appeal.

Why there is not a Flash animated series is beyond me, visually the character is awesome and he has the best supervillains of anyone, Batman included. Only Spider-Man has a roster of foes to match the Flash.
Over and over, the crow cries uncover the cornfield.

I would say even Wonder Woman is better treated than The Flash. That's saying a lot since WW has been treated like shit but she's getting her own t.v show and got an animated film. What does The Flash have going for him?Zit, nothing, NADA!.
Or maybe The Flash just sucks?

    Thoughts?
To be fair, J'onn J'onzz started the Silver Age. Barry stole the glory (just like he did the old DCU).

Damn us, humans! Never giving credit to the Martian.. Hurumph!

I think it's because most fans can relate to a Midwesterner American more easily than they can to a Martian.

It's kind of like Green Lantern. It has some of the better selling books but it rarely gets threads besides the bi-weekly "What books should I be reading to catch up/ I just read Blackest Night" bit.

The Flash is an awesome title. There's just little to discuss because most of the arcs wrap up nicely. I'm looking forward to seeing the Reverse Flash and hopefully Dr. Alchemy in the future.

Actually, Barry was the first re-imagining of a Golden Age character, nad that's why he gets to be the guy who "started the Silver Age"; the division between those eras began with him. Even if he wasn't the first character to be created associated with that era.

And on the topic of the thread; particularly, I don't really dicuss the current Flash title because I read it with a 3 to 5 months delay most times. I do so because I read it on loan. Nut it's pretty good right now,

Specially with we compare to that atrocity that was the Flash title right before the reboot.

I made it all the way up to #10 and decided to drop it. But I've never been the biggest Flash fan, and this book didn't really convince me to become one. I'll just settle for getting my Flash fix in Justice League or whenever he pops up in another book I'm reading like JLD.

Funny I should come across this thread now. After the last issue I found myself asking that dreaded question, "Why am I buying this book?". I don't think I have really enjoyed a single issue since this current run started. The book and stories just strike me as boring, there has been none of the excitement I was hoping for. I was thinking about at least checking out the Reverse-Flash story but I know I will only compare it to that great Wally West Reverse-Flash story line from the 90's or at the turn of the century. That had to be the best Reverse-Flash story ever, I actually thought Barry had returned for a little while and that entire reveal was awesome. I've always tried to support the Flash title but man this is getting tough...

Sheldon Cooper is holding it down. That's why.
