That's fairly disappointing. I would have loved to see this brought to the small screen. Hopefully The Sixth Gun sees better luck.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!

Eh. I'm not entirely sure it would work as a TV series unless they toned down the violence, the somewhat worrying depictions of black people (particularly volume 2) and so on.

Might work as an animated series on Adult Swim, though.

Or a movie might be good. They managed to compress Scott Pilgrim so it could work.

Seriously, I want to know why this isn't happening given the coolness factor that the on-going comic brings ?

I mean why there isn't a live action show of this great series ?

Because of the risk involved in a show of the type Chew would be. Nobody wants to be the first one to front a lot of cash for a show that hasn't really been done before only to see it fail and lose all that money. If it was a straight up cop drama they'd order it right up!

If Chew was a more popular comic it would help sell the series, but Chew has only sold over 15,000 comics in one month once in 31 or so issues, and generally averages between 11,000-13,000. Heck, the comic that sold over 15,000 issues was the Poyo one-shot, so it wasn't even a regular issue.

You should research the TPB sales.

Which is true...that is what helped the Walking Dead as well get to a TV series. We have to remember that Walking Dead before the TV series was doing in the 20,000 range of solo issue sales. Now since then the book has added 30,000-40,000 more readers a month.

But TPB sales were very strong for it and helped it get where its at now.

I think I sold my collection at the right time. :) It's an enjoyable book, but once you see that people will pay crazy amounts just because it could have some of the same success as The Walking Dead, then you might as well cash in.

There are nearly 150k of the first story arc collections in print. For a book that does NOT have a movie or a TV show backing it up, these numbers are phenomenal. Digital numbers are likewise through the roof.

Initial orders of a new trade routinely exceed or nearly exceed numbers of the monthly.
