Default Longest speech in comics, ever.

Hey all. Just wondering what is the longest speech you've read made by a character in a comic book? How many words was it, and how much of the panel/page did it take up?

Silver Surfer. He did these soliloquies while surfing through space. Rambling on and on. Page after page.
    It's been sussed
Silver Surfer was co opted by Stan Lee to specifically allow him to speechify his personal views.

Weren't there issues of Cerebus from after Dave Sim went off the rails where entire issues were taken up with a conversation/interpretation of Genesis that was rendered as pages upon pages of small text punctuated by occasional drawings?

Didn't they make a comic out of Atlas Shrugged? I can only imagine Galt's speech in comic form (how many issues????).

    Almost.

The proposal would have had Steve Ditko (an Objectivist, who as illustrator was the co-creator of Spiderman) draw the story.
    Damn right.

The longest speech I can remember in comics was that issue of Batgirl a few years ago that had four solid pages of expository dialogue, bringing readers up to date on previous events.

That's what I was thinking of.
When DiDio tried to make it up to Cass Cain fans that Adam Beechen had completely destroyed her character by producing a mini series with .... Adam Beechen as writer.

    edit: here it is.

    My blog.

We struggled against apartheid in South Africa, supported by people the world over, because black people were being blamed and made to suffer for something we could do nothing about; our very skins. It is the same with sexual orientation. It is a given.

I strongly suspect the eventual winner will turn out to have been written by Don McGregor.

Just read any Brian Bendis book. There will be tons of dialogue.

Yeah, but he's not asking about dialogue, he's asking about monologue.

Not the longest, but one of my favorites.
