This is by far my favorite manga. Ken Akamatsu is a friggin genius. he's the one who created Love Hina. If you are not familiar with this manga it's about a 10 year old prodigy wizard in traing that goes to Japan to teach at an all girls school. The story line is amazing and I suggest it to anyone who is familiar with Love Hina. I have a link to where you can read it and I'll post it when I remember where I wrote it down.

Meh. I've read the first published volume and didn't care for it enough to read further, which isn't far off how fast I lost patience with the LH manga. And it's not a huge distance with how fast I lost interest in the A.I Love You manga, the start of which to me just seemed to be a wholesale Oh My Goddess! ripoff.

Ken Akamatsu is talented but I have to agree with you that all of his mangas appear to be the same. A young man dropped into a females world. Gives you the feeling that the story should revert to hentai at one point or another. I recently started reading Gantz and that story line is always changing. But that can be said about anything. To each his own.

It takes about 1/4 into the third one to get interesting. Right now I have up to the 4th volume and it really gets going in the middle.

The first volmue really doesn't setup most of the story yet ... more like getting to know some of the characters . The action doesn't pick up till volume 3 and the introduction of Eva ... THEN things start getting good .

My standard operating procedure for manga is to give it three volumes (once it has earned itself buying priveleges). A number of good ones take a while to get going.

I want to know if my suspicion about the upper right girl being a ghost is right. There's this cryptic note not to move her seat, so....

While she hasn't appeared in the main story yet even several volumes later what I read up to she is indeed a ghost according to english volume 4's sketch pages on the same page as Kazumi

I read some of the first volume but then it started giving me flashbacks of Love Hina, causing me to drop the book and run screaming. I generally can't stand the "tenchi-style" setup so I haven't given this series any attention since then

In it's defense, the main protagonist is just a kid so there really isn'tmuch romantic interest for him. The only person who seems geuinely interested is Nodoka, and he saved her life. The others just enjoy messing with him, except for the class rep, she's just plain creepy and has a little brother fixation on him. The series is more like a Harry Potter manga with alot of fan service.

Like we said ... It was like Ken realized in volume 2 that he was just rewriting LH and took a big eraser to it . After that it got much better with magic fights, martial arts ,and monsters . Like was said before Harry Potter with fan service with a bit of Naruto ,Streetfighter ,Trigun etc mixed in ..

That's the beauty of it. While it's essentially Harry potter with fan service, it includes elements of just about every other kind of anime. It's got a robot girl, martial artists, ninjas, and even demons and vampires. It's not overwhelmingly deep or psychological, but I'm not looking for another Deep Blue or Big O here.

I saw that little sketch of the girl in the very first seat. And in Newtype USA she was shown as a ghost-like figure lurking overhead when Eva and Chachamaru are pictured on top of the building.

Yeah supposedly she's appears in the manga around the chap 70's but none of the scan I found go up that high (66 was highest I found) And I can't find the raws either .

Well, I've got a link to a site somewhere that has up until the 8th book(I think). I'll post that when I find it. But that the only way that this girl could exist because they show sweeping views of all the girls in the class and I could not find her. Oh well we'll find that out when the mangas are released.
