The fact that has to be asked related to a Batman comic makes me a little sad.

Ditto. For all my anti-Joker posts, it's hard to believe there was a time I loved the crown prince.

I think cutting his face off will be their way of restoring his face to how it looked before the Glasgow smile was added. At least I hope so I dislike how he looked in The Dark Knight and would love to see his visage restored to its previous look.

It's kinda cool, but it serves absolutely no purpose other than to be SHOCKING and OH MY GOD, LOOK AT HOW CRAZY AND DISTURBED THE JOKER IS.

It's shock value. And it's pathetic. Still, it looks cool at times. Not in the last Batman issue, because it looked like crap in Batman #16.
Heck, why not have Joker go all Jeffrey Dahmer on us by having him cannibalise on his victims for an even bigger shock?

Picture this......Batman walks into Joker's place and sees a poor man's head in a pot and Joker tells Bats that he "tasted like chicken".

Was that actually ever added to the comics version?
Last time I saw him (R.I.P.) he looked normal. Normalish.

Yes, but only because it's something different and that it's only temporary.
We all know that the original Joker will be back at some stage, with his mug intact.

Not sure its something i'd like to see permanently, but it works for the story.

Here's a question......how many fans would drop the books if Joker killed one of Batman's friends(Gordon, Dick, etc), cut off his face, and start wearing it just to piss off Batman? How far would Joker have to go to make people go, "Ah heck no"?

I already dropped them because of the never-ending events...

I was going to drop the books over something the Joker did, I'd have done it when he killed Sarah Essen.

Really, that's my feelings about Joker.I loved classic Joker, both as a sociopath extortionist(Golden Age Joker),as a criminal mastermind with a clown gimmick(Silver Age) and a mixture of both styles(1970s-early 80s looney killer Joker). But after DKR and Killing Joke, every writer overused Joker as a nihilist clown and a killing machine to the point that made the character boring and Batman incompetent.I would really love to see Joker die or at least being put on limbo for a 10 years minimum. The guy is so overused,it's rare to find a modern story with him interesting.
