Default "Amazon's" Future Uncertain For The CW

Multiple reports state The CW wasn't happy with the initial pilot script for "Amazon," but the Wonder Woman origin series still has a chance to end up on the fall 2013 schedule.

Oh, let's just call this one dead in the water already so we can complain once more why Wonder Woman can't catch a break as far as a new live-action project...

That was on the WB, the precursor to the CW.

    "Amazon"...
Why can't they just call it "Wonder Woman"?

They want this mess to survive, they have to make it unapologetic of its roots.

This is CW we're taking about. Unapologetic isn't exactly in their vocabulary.

I'm okay with this show being pushed back. But given the success of Arrow, why would they want to? I get that CW wants to get it right. But given how many times a Wonder Woman show has been tried and canned, this is just getting ridiculous. With the cancellation of Young Justice and Green Lantern, it just hasn't been a good week for DC.

If they weren't happy with the script I'm glad they waited, rather than rush an put out a mediocre product. In a way, they have to be even more careful than with Arrow but not only is Diana's profile higher than Green Arrow's the last attempt to get a show with her was very publicly scrapped. They need to make sure they avoid the mistakes of the last go round.

um, that is exactly how you get cancelled

Smallville survived for 10 years because it shoved itself into the shame box for about 5 before feeling comfortable enough to spread its superhero wings, Arrow is doing the same thing

you have to simplify this stuff for the TV audience

kind of like how LOST tricked people into watching a science fiction show

For the same reason Superman was called Smallville and Green Arrow is called Arrow. It's not a big deal. Small ville lasted ten years and I think Arrow is getting good ratings so the name won't be a problem if they get the show right. ANd that's not right for comic book fans, but right for general TV audiences.

I don't think the name change "simplifies" things for the audience. It's more about trying to distance comic book characters from their hokey roots.

Basically, getting the average American to admit they like geeky things like super heroes is like getting a baby to eat their vegetables: "Here comes the choo choo to the tunnel! chugga chugga woo wooo"
