I am a huge Green Lantern fan and reader. Love it. Been reading everything for almost 10 years.

But come one. Can we get a breather where everything is so intertwined?

But do I HAVE to pick this up? I hate GLC. I only read GL. Bleh.

Plus it's like 5 bucks and I don't even know most of the characters in this preview besides Baz and B'dg.

The conclusion? I can't be the only one who was still waiting for "Rise of the Third Army" to start, right? Anyway...on to the next WORLD-SHATTERING event!!
Be a fan of the creators, not the characters.

Anyone know if the trades will stop at #16? I think I'm gonna drop this title and just trade it from now on. I really hate crossovers, especially having to buy books I know NOTHING about.

You didn't have to buy all the series in this crossover. The Annual is the only book needed for all series. It's the culmination of the individual plots. This is the opposite of the H'el on Earth crossover.

Wait, really? I assumed from the end of GL #16 and it was saying pick up this and this that I had missed a lot of the story and got upset that I had to go back on wednesday and pick up all the books. Okay. Nvm. I freaked out a bit :P

Big annual. Not the best art, but serviceable. Nothing to write home about, a few standout panels and a lot of less. But you know, events finally happen. Things. Characters do them. Stuff that could've been crammed into one awesome, dense comic took four titles, 50+ issues to tell. That's 1000 pages. To get here, and in the cases of two of those titles, not 500 consistently beautiful to look at pages (thank god Kuder is on New Guardians, now).

Anyway, big unsurprising thing: Volthoom is free. The mystery of Volthoom isn't touched on at all except that he's very, very like, powerful.
Second, also unsurprising thing: We don't see Hal or Sinestro - but we DO GET very real progress in that storyline, briefly.

Third thing - actually surprised me: FINALLY, the reunion of the old "Recharge" gang. And that includes Soranik and Iolande. About fracking time.
Fourth thing - biggest surprise of all, and frankly the best storytelling avenue and nicest moment:

    Mogo is a "she".

That's like, some Neil Gaiman's beat for the TARDIS fun in my book.
