He also has the power to turn angry fans around and make them re-consider things >>coughcoughLexcoughcough<<

    Man, I love this thread.

Dead Kents, Krypton, love it all. Even Krypto, who I have never been able to get fully behind, isnt that bad here. Im still not completely sold, but it might actually happen.

The costume is really the weakest part for me. It just doesnt look modern or have that classic signature that will withstand the test of time. Im not for a return of the old suit, but the current one needs some tweaks. Less seams, maybe a glow effect for the "S" and more streamlined boots and belt. Did Jim Lee not pay attention to the lessons taught to us by Steve Jobs? Make your product smooth and sleek and streamlined, and people will buy it.

Jimmy as Clark's friend and not Superman's. Lois as a friend and confidant who *might* know Clark's secret, if anyone ever picks up Perez's threads. Diana as the love interest. Lets see where that actually goes, its been played with before, but never fully explored. Dont screw it up Johns.

I know I said it before, but once more, for the first time in a long time, you dont tug on Superman's cape. Before the New52, you could do just about anything and Clark would apologize for being in your way, or having to arrest you, or whatever. The damned weak willed sop. Now, he'll put your criminal ass in the hospital like you deserve if you dont play it cool. I like that, he's not Batman grimdark or uber violent but he's not taking any of your crap either. I love it! Finally, the macho alpha male is back!

    2) Morrison has managed to blend all the various Superman eras into the narrative. He starts off as the leaping and less than invulnerable social crusader rabble rouser like the Golden Age, becomes the the flying insanely powerful sci-fi Superhero who battles aliens, mad scientists and supervillains and has fantastic adventures ala the Silver/Bronze age incarnations, and evolved into the modern Superman we know today and will presumably become the Superman we see in ALL STAR SUPERMAN. Not only does it give Superman an arc of character growth he normally doesn't get beyond the origin itself, but pays tribute to the entirety of Superman's publishing history.

    3) The New Luthor/Superman dynamic. Particularly post SUPERMAN #15, There is a more of a Moriarty/Holmes dynamic between them. The very idea that Luthor, while he hates Superman, tolerates him and allows him to live (in his mind) only because he is the only person that can keep up with him.

    4) Jimmy as a peer and Clark's best pal. We've seen this played around with in the past, but the New 52 has gone head on with it. Reimagining him as Clark's best friend rather than Superman's gives Jimmy a new purpose and reason of being in the mythos.

    5) New 52 Krypton- this is the Krypton I've been wanting to see for years. We got pretty damn close to it in BIRTHRIGHT, but this is a near perfect version that opens all kinds of doors to high concept sci-fi. I would love a new World of Krypton limited series or ongoing to explore this new Krypton.

    6) The t-shirt and jeans Superman look. I don't know why...but I just like it more than the other new costume (although my opinion of even THAT has softened).

This. Describes my feelings for New 52 Superman perfectly(especially for the armor. I'm actually a fan of the T-shirt/jeans/cape combo as well as the Kryptonian armor costume.) For now make mine New 52 Superman.
A Comic book fan till I die.

I forgot to throw some love Krypto's way. I always liked the eariler versions of Krypto. I didn't think I would go for a manacing Krypto like the preview images were leading us to believe. Then the Krypto issue of Action came along and just melted my heart. Seeing that dynamic of a boy and his dog and Krypto's unfailing love and loyalty was just awesome. Then fast forward to Krypto saving Superman from the Anit-Superman Army, which was great. Krypto taking an eye from The Kryptonite Man was badass. I really love this Krypto as he reminds me so much of the real dogs we had in my family.

I was actually hoping they'd keep Krypto as a Phantom Zone presence, an unseen protector of sorts. But I'll wait and see for this one, as cautiously optimistic as one can be with a superpowered dog that can't really be left at home without leveling a city block. At least they ditched the cape...

Krypto use to roam the galaxy like a dog in his backyard, a hero in his own right, I hope they do that!

I also love the cape and T-shirt look. But what I love most about New 52 Superman is summed up in this page from Morrison's Action.

I think Greg Rucka's Ruin revealed storyline was the last word on "doubting" Superman, so I'm so glad DC is exploring a more headstrong Superman who knows what's right. It's such a refreshing change.

Could you stop with the veiled barbs in what is supposed to be a positive thread, Lexrules? Once was funny, but three times is starting to make it look like you're just out to spoil the party for everybody else.

I will chime in by saying that I am glad that some of the more convoluted and messy elements of the prior continuity are gone, especially:
    1. The babies that the writers gave characters ( Lana, Lex, and Lucy, for instance ) and then had no idea how to use them.
    2. The seemingly endless extremes of villainy that Lois' father and sister sunk to. Lois is better without that baggage.
    3. Most of all, the continuity nightmare that had been Krypton and the many residents that came to visit.

Just hate the notion that for Superman to be taken serious artist think he needs to have Red Eyes. I would hope your as sick of it as I am.

The overused red gaze does get tiresome, I'll give you that. By itself, your comment was fairly innocuous; it's just that it came in the sequence of two previous jabs and it was beginning to look like you were simply out to sour the mood in a positive thread.

I like that they aren't afraid to make Superman powerful. Used to, the overwhelming consensus was that powerful isn't modern and sucks. But really, it's not so much that I LIKE it as it is that I'm RELIEVED. I was afraid that because he now has armor, that he must be weaker. Otherwise, what's the point of it? But considering he lifted the equivalent weight of the Earth while in his boxer shorts, I think it's a safe bet that he's extremely powerful no matter what.

I admit, I'm a power whore. I don't care about the vs. stuff, like whether he can beat the Hulk or Goku, I just happen to be entertained when Superman does something mind-blowing and miraculous.

People who chime in on vs. threads with "I don't like Superman at all, but he'd win.", STOP HELPING! Superman doesn't need your damning him with faint praise, thank you.

They finally got his attitude right. He was always an apologetic, conservative preachy character. Who was not every sharp. If Superman is a Krptonian raised as a human then he should have some flaws as well. Like all of us he keeps growing and evolving as a better man. No one should be a paragon from day one. Unfortunatley that is how they use to write him. This boring pragon of virtue with no real personality. Hence the boring tag that he is perfect and has no challenges. Great men...idealists are fiery men and doing the right thing is never easy because in this day and age the right thing does not have to be the popular thing.

I like the fresh feel of a younger character too. It gives way more scope for stories and thank god he is not married as well. The marriage never made any sense to me. Superman is an alien trying to fit in and show us the way and that in itself is never going to be easy. There should be something uplifting in seeing a guy who loves and values his adopted home and all sentient life still doing what he does even if he has to shoulder it alone. It's more epic and there is a sadness to it too. That is heroism.

Very true. Lifting cars and browbeating bank robbers is all fine and dandy, but it's great seeing Superman be, you know, super.

Dead Kents, Krypto as a badass looking dog, Krypton resembling its pre-Crisis version, Superman's early attitude as the Champion of the Oppressed and then evolving as the more SA version, his evolving power level, his super intelligence, his fortress either the Collector's ship or the arctic one, Clark and Jimmy as buddies, his new villains. The only issue I have is the suit, I'd love to see the 0 issue's black suit design to be the regular one albeit with the normal colours.
