GOTG: Add a Second Female Member!

DnA were very likely going to bring her back into the story, had they continued. It's a very Dan Abnett thing to do; you get used to it in his novels.

It should be Captain Marvel for a number of reasons. If I was just going personal preference I'd go Phylla-Vel but she lacks the popularity of Captain Marvel. If the team is semi officially going to be the Cosmic Avengers team then wouldn't it makes sense to have some Avengers on it with cosmic ties and the two most prominent of those are Captain Marvel and Quasar. It certainly would make a lot more sense than Iron Man though I realize Iron Man gets its because GotG are probably going to get a plug in Iron Man 3 and and IM will probably briefly appear in the GotG movie and its all about making the comics resemble the movies.

I agree that Phyla-Vell is less popular than Captain Marvel and Quasar, but her character is ripe for development and really could drive a great comic. She hasn't been around too long and already is in her third persona as Martyr. She seems so wayward with a bunch of second guessing herself. I'd love to see her finally come into her own.

It was close between Phyla and Mantis. I ended up going with Mantis because if they aren't doing Cosmo in this iteration they need some bureaucratic manager with psychic abilities. I do agree with some of the posts about Phyla getting fleshed out as Martyr, that would be cool.

I hope they add Mantis or Moondragon cause their psychic abilities helped coordinate the team during missions. Its funny how the GOTG had the most females on a team in the past few years compared to just about all the other ones out there. They had Mantis , Moondragon, Phyla and Gamora kicking ass in space and now all of sudden you got the fearless defenders and an X-Men book full of women but the GOTG has been reduced to the standard of having one token female. Hopefully this roster will grow after a few issues.

Unless something has been said otherwise that I missed, I have a feeling Phylla-Vell will end up in the Fearless Defenders. I would however like to see Sersi back in action :)

I voted Mantis, but I am surprised that there is no love for Nikki or Aleta. Original GotG ruled.

Mantis was more integral to GotG than Gamora, to me. I loved her character and the interactions she had with the rest of the team, so it was sad not having her be part of the movie roster and even more sad not having her part of the comics one. I have no doubt that she will appear soon, though, since Bendis said the roster wasn't yet complete and Mantis is just too great not to use. Phyla is someone more unlikely that I hope to see show up.
