    Correct! and unfortunately for dynamite many of their characters aren't well known and their creative teams aren't really high level writing/drawing for the most part sure they might have a few good ones but not many will have the name value that guys for Image DC And Marvel will have

    Some interesting comments.

    These last comments about popularity are why I started the thread to begin with. What would make them popular? Remember, DC took a crack at it with Frist Wave which included Batman and it failed miserably.

    However, one piece of the question that's been ignored has been regarding a shared universe. Would that make any difference?

    If you could make the updates work so that you're reading about current events and not re-hashing 70-80 year old events and these characters all occupy the same shared universe, would that increase popularity?

    I wonder becuase I look at a character like the Shadow and think "how can you not make this work?" His abilities are awesome and the look is timeless.

    That said, I've never read Chyakin's update, does anyone here recommend it?

    Matt Wagner and Garth Ennis aren't both big names in the industry? They're certainly better than 98% of the people currently working for the Big Two.

    It's very good, but it's also very much of its time. Of all Chaykin's seminal '80s work, it's the one that reads the most dated.
