    Default REVIEW: Winter Soldier, #14

"Winter Soldier" #14 from Ed Brubaker and Butch Guice is a fitting send off to the character Brubaker helped reinvigorate. The fight against Leo Novokov ends but causes some shockwaves that won't be brushed over.

Quotation : "Winter Soldier" #14 concludes a great run on the character from Ed Brubaker. He's a writer who likes to do the worst to his creations and he's certainly done that in "Winter Soldier." (...). Brubaker has created something larger than himself. While this pause is incredibly sorrowful, he has also left behind a rich history and a fertile jumping on point for the next creative team. For now, we salute Brubaker, his best creation, one of his finest runs and his time at Marvel entertaining readers with the worst he could imagine."

I cannot say more nor better. "Winter Soldier" was one of my favorite series, and I hope Brubaker will come back soon. I will miss him...

This was a very good series. But I absolutely hate it when creators put there characters through such tragic manipulations. Bucky is now denied the love of his life. It feels too much like the manipulation of OMD. And maybe the result of editorial dictate.
Praise for the series, thumbs down how he ended it. Too bad, I am leaving the series with Bru anyway.

You should give the new team a chance as it was a really good first issue. I love Bucky. So I'm sticking with him until the wheels fall off. I think you'll be missing out if you drop the book.

I dropped all Marvel super hero books except for the two Waid books. I just got tired of the editorial direction of everything is part of some stupid event with a obligatory death. I was planning on dropping this when Bru left anyway. I'm just sorry he ended it on such a sad note. Especially if it was dictated by TPTB.

at ease soldier, thank you for your service.

On to newer pastures for James Barnes.
Steve Rogers: You ready to follow Captain America into the jaws of death?
James Barnes: Hell, no! The little guy from Brooklyn who was too dumb not to run away from a fight. I'm following him."
