J.J. Abrams To Direct "Star Wars Episode VII"

I loved Mission: Impossible 3 and Star Trek 2009. If anything, he's gonna make Star Wars the kind of glossy gritty that the franchise sorely need!

I wasn't reminded of Star Wars by the new Star Trek. I just thought I was watching a dumb movie with poorly directed action, made bearable by Karl Urban's masterful DeForest Kelley impression.

Woo's movie was a mess, but it had better action than Abrams' movie.

It's a movie about a farm boy going out to stop a ship that destroys worlds. He meets an old man at a bar who helps him on his journey. At one point he has to find passage off a desert planet, albeit one of ice and not sand. In aforementioned bar he runs afoul of some of it's patrons.

Obviously I have to add the joke here that I put on Twitter: Is it too early to hope for a JJ Abrams directed Authority movie? Apollo is basically a living lens flare!

Seriously, though...if JJ Abrams did direct an Authority movie, I think I'd have to see it 4 times in the theatres and buy 2 copies of the blu-ray when it comes out!

1-2 where like that, 3-4 had much better acting character moments and story than the first 2.
and your hipster opinion of an actor doesn't work if he is actualy a good actor (see collateral and Jack Reacher)

I was almost surprised to see the hate for Abrams but then I remembered that the internet was going to complain no matter who was picked.

Looking forward to his take. He did family really well in Fringe, I think he'll handle the legacy aspect of the films great.

Cloverfield and Super 8 didn't have time travel its true, and I was mostly being tongue in cheek anyway, but time travel/knowledge of the future is a HUGE theme of Abrams.

Not sure how involved he'll be with the script anyway, but future knowledge could come through Jedi premonition.

I enjoyed the new Trek and I expect Abrams will do well for Star Wars, too.
