This was a very sad interview. I really wanted to see how this book was with all the positive criticism of it.

Honest Question: When is it good to go for a trade rather than book by book sales? I didn't really know the characters of AoA and wanted to just read everthing in trade paperback form. Now I kinda feel like I've let a possibly great book not end the way it was meant.

It was definitely a unique take. It's nice to see creators able to play in their own little sandbox. Unfortunately, that seems to be happening less and less these days.

This blows. It was my fave book. It was so different! Did I hear that X-Treme X-Men was getting cancelled too? I like that one a little less, but I like the whole alt universe thing. This book will be sorely missed Mr. Lapham. Thanks for writing such a great book.

I enjoyed this book, but the art shook my commitment a bit. It was just way too murky for my tastes/attention span.

this sucks. i always loved post apocalyptic stories because the situations are always dire and everything's so desperate. there's always drama and exploring the human condition in these types of stories. and this had x-men in it! and since its not 616, you can always push the envelope with it like killing popular characters, etc. which is i guess the same reason why i love the walking dead.

this was really a great chance to put the xmen beyond just the superheroing stories.and the great part about the aoa universe is its somewhat connected to 616 because you had characters crossing over. this universe isnt just a whimisical what if or alternate universe. it really is real to xmen fans.

This is certainly disappointing news. AoA is one of my favourite x-books in quite some time. I love the concept Human and Mutant fighting for the survival of all. I absolutely love the art/artists. I love Apocarine. I love bad-arsed, Jean (no cosmic turkey) Grey. I love all the characters and how they are written.

The ending looks like it will be spectacular, though. (I do wish they had not spoiled it with the cover). Sigh.

I also hope they make a leap back to the 616, maybe even have McCoy check up on Archangel's kid in Ragnarok Now. Sugar Man's side plot was one of my favorites.

It was currently my favorite book being published by Marvel. Sad day.

It reminded me of Walking Dead in that sense as well. And that's something I always liked about alt. universe stories as well. The problem I had with this series---and don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of the series---but my main gripe was that by the end, he's pretty much killed any character I gave a crap about. Even at the beginning, there weren't many, but he essentially killed all the good AoA characters and just introduced new guys. And they're cool new guys, but I felt they went too far with the whole "no one is safe" thing. Between Lapham and Remender, pretty much every character I liked in that universe (and as a result, a lot of my investment in it) is dead and gone.

This book was cool and inspired, but ultimately I didn't feel it delivered and it wasted the AOA continuity. I for one never cared about the group of human's we are supposed to be rooting for. Were they interesting? Did they have personalities? I didn't even know who was who.

Think about it. How cool would an ongoing aOa series have been at any point? We finally get one and its not about any of the characters from AoA that we liked or cared about. An ongoing AOA title could have lasted for years and years, following the adventures of the remaining xmen. Instead of getting to see how Magneto and Rogue would have tried to rebuild their world we get to watch dr octopus kill their infant son. It was about dragging them and us through the mud every month. "Look at this shit, Just look at it!"

Why did this even have to be the AOA continuity? It could of been based in a world similar to it, without ruining everyones favorite non 616 continuity.

Its kind of like star wars in a way "So you like star wars huh, well how about 3 movies about a whiny little boy who is sad"

"So you like Age of Apocalypse huh, well how about a series thats not about any of your favorite xmen. They will appear in it, but only so we can destroy their characters and have them act in inexplicable dickish ways ( cyclops, colossus, wolverine)"

Again I didn't think this was a terrible idea, but the age of apocalypse concept was totally wasted by this title. It should of been called the x cutioners or something and it should of been based in a continuity similar to aoa, but not the real one.

An ongoing title about the xmen in the AOA could of racked up some serious sales numbers for more than a few years. I keep wanting to list places they could of gone with it, but there are just too many to even list. Instead we got this?
