What I dislike about the comic is the pacing. It's so slow.It took years for something BIG to happen.I'm talking about the moment issue 48.After that, nothing much happen. It was just cannibals hunters and drama at the hilltop.Negan made the comic interesting again.Still,it took 50 issues for a big villain to show up again.

I liked it until the Community.
That's when I realized it was past its expiration date as far as the plot went
i don't .
Ive read the first trade. It didn't impress me so I never bothered with the second. I found it pretty predictable and by the numbers. Funny thing I remember thinking it'd make a good tv show but I expect more from comics.
I dislike Walking Dead because it's basically every zombie cliche rolled into a comic/tv show, and yet it gets praised as the greatest thing ever.
Do I like every single thing about TWD? Of course not. But in the 30+ years I've been reading comics, it is one of the few titles that has held my interest. The Sandman held my interest all the way to the end but I often wonder if I'd still be reading it if it never stopped, and the X-men and GI Joe in the eighties had me hooked.
But here's the thing, if it was every single zombie cliche rolled into one, TWD would have lost my interest years ago. I've had the misfortune of seeing a lot of zombie films over the years, as well as reading various zombie comics, and most were bloody awful. TWD isn't perfect, it has its flaws but it doesn't have fatal flaws like many zombie stories.

The TV Show and Comic both annoy me when the characters don't make logical choices for their own survival. Still enjoy it though, but gave up on the TV show.
I love the comic but I'm not crazy about the TV show (but I don't think it's bad per se'). My problem with the show is this: I like the book better, I think it feels more character based while the tv show seems more focused on the zombie aspect. I don't think the show is crap but the similarities and differences between them make the show feel kinda off to me I kinda wish that either the show followed the books more closely or not at all and covered a different group of survivors.
Ongoings I'm picking up: MANHATTAN PROJECTS, BEDLAM, FATALE, SAGA, THE WALKING DEAD, B.P.R.D. , CREEPY, EERIE, CONAN, DHP, HELLBOY, THE MASSIVE, MIND MGMT, STAR WARS, SAVAGE SWORD
I liked it for a good while, but then got tired of it around issue 70 or so when it seemed like the repeating cycle of the comic was to find someplace that felt safe, something goes wrong, zombies attack and people die, find someplace that feels safe, etc...
Image: Chew, Invincible, Skullkickers, Invincible Universe, Revival
IDW: TMNT, MTMTE, G.I. Joe
Dynamite: Pathfinder
Red 5: Atomic Robo
Marvel: Thor: GoT, JIM, Powers, Scarlet Spider
Got too repetitive with no end in sight.
I thought I was interested in a ZA story that described life "post zombie" in a gritty, realistic manner. I wanted to love TWD, but unfortunately I've come to realize that I love zombie stories when they are about people finding ways to survive zombies (I love the "cliches"). I don't love zombie stories about "the horror that man will do to man in the aftermath of the apocalypse." Apparently, after things settle down what is going to happen is every psycho/sociopath on the planet is going to get himself a little following and start waging war on everyone else in ever more violent and gruesome ways. I enjoyed TWD up to about issue 24 or so. After that it stopped being fun and started to become sort of "squicky" and uncomfortable. The Michonne revenge scene on the guv just felt like silly gore porn to me. I also never really liked Kirkman's dialogue. Characters had lots of long conversations that just seemed strange and annoying to me as I read them. I had the first 7 volumes of the HC books, but after reading volume 3 I sold the set and bought the Hellboy Library Editions with the money and I'm very happy indeed!

As far as the comics are concerned I have become torn. I am getting through the 2nd Compendium now (I'd say I am about 80 issues in w/ the series) and I am losing interest FAST. To me, the first 60 issues of this series was so much fun, exciting and worthwhile (I will say I wish Tony Moore stayed on as I think Adlard is pretty mediocre). It has become a rinse and repeat, not only w/ the story, but with the dialogue and art as well. I feel like wherever they go, it all looks the same.
Find "safe" place, get attacked, talk about how hard life is, move on........find new safe place, talk about what each character lost in last attack and how they're damaged, get attacked, kill a couple characters, move on... etc etc etc.
I didn't have any intention continuing reading the series beyond issue 96 (where 2nd Comp stops), but I've been told there's a new villain that's introduced sometime after issue 100 that has re-sparked some interest for folks.
I just don't see how Kirkman can write himself out of his own repeating loop. And with how successful this series is (show, video games...) my guess is he will write this series until he croaks. I'm not sure if I want to read beyond issue 100...let alone that long.
(To be fair, for me to get enjoyment out of 60 issues...which is 5 years!!...is damn impressive nonetheless)
