Loved the issue. B'bd was great and I really enjoyed how Simon brought his brother in law out of the coma. It seems we get Hal Jordan back as the star next week which is nice but I am going to miss Simon. I am assuming when the book said to follow Simon in Green Lantern corps that means he will be added to that book from now on right?

I recently picked up all of the GL issues since the zero issue, and i can happily say that I've blown away, I've been absolutely loving Simon Baz. Up until now i hadn't touched a single green Lantern book since Blackest Night because i was growing bored with the "rainbow corps" and the endless crossovers. The early years of Geoff John's remodeling of the Green Lantern franchise had been fantastic, all of the human lantern's were given rings and the identity of GL, the GLC was recreated, and the whole line felt full of energy and drive, i can honestly say that John's GL and Tomasi's GLC were some of the main reasons i got into comics. However after the new status quo had been set up it began to feel kind of boring for me, being exposed to all these new concepts was fun at first, but once i'd seen it all i realised that lots of the concepts were uncreative and childish (Larfleeze is terrible and the portrayal of emotions is embarrasing), and got bored of the line.
However Simon Baz has really got me back into the GL line. His characterization is great, he's got real personality and his origin is really modern and interesting (the bomb in the car deal feels a bit weird though). Because i started reading GL when all the human lantern's co-existed i never really had "my" lantern, but now i'm starting to think that Simon Baz will become my favourite lantern, as he's the one i'll grow up with.
My only disapointment is Doug Mahnke's art, it seems quite bad compared to the incredible work he did on Superman Beyond (which was amazing), maybe it's because it's rushed. It would be great if John's gave him some more crazy sci-fi stuff to draw.
Anway this issue was great, i actually thought it would be better if his brother-in-law stayed in a coma, he could stand as a sort of reminder to Baz that he has limitations and that he's got to be responsible. But i guess it made him more unique amongst the other human lanterns that he did something with the ring thats never been done before. B'dg is great too, i'm loving him as a sort of squirrel yoda.
