Going w/ 9 ( It's tough to beat the original)
Goal to intimidate and kick the crap out of everyone out there.

I would need powerhouses w/ the intimidating personality to match ( there goes iceman...) and I would need all bases covered.

Cyclops-not really up there in the power dept. but the best leader and tactician for this job

Magneto-(energy manipulator) mutant boogeyman and seasoned vet, great 2nd in command.

Magik-(magic/transport) every extinction team needs a teenage time traveling dimension hopping hell lord. bonus-soul sword to cancel magical attacks and time travel to give the team prep time. Imagine what Scott can do w/ that knowledge. Having an unlimited army of undead demons as your back up doesn't hurt either.

I seriously don't get why the x-men never used Limbo as an HQ. If the Jla have a base on the moon the x-men can have a base in hell.

Shaman X-man/ Rachel Grey -(TP/TK) Omega level tp and tk plus additional time travel and dimensional porting. Rachel as back up (after seeing how she handled Thor)

Danger/ Warlock-(tech) Shapeshifting swiss army knives. Warlock can infect and assimilate whole planets if he decided to get serious.

Colossanaut-(muscle) Unstoppable engine of destruction who can heal from any damage plus tp resistant. Just paste a picture of Illyana on every enemy they encounter and watch him turn demon and go to town. Most powerful x-brick ever. If he gets out of control just slightly tap him with the Soul Sword. Maybe he can turn into trion Colossus...

Vulcan-(Energy manipulator) Insane powerhouse who took down Adam Warlock and goes toe to toe against Gladitor and the imperial guardss.

Northstar-(speedster) Everytime needs a speedster and to my knowledge he is one of the fastest x-men ever. Plus x-men need a speed blitzer

Hope/ Darwin-Weapon of mass destruction. (since Legion can't be used) Darwin schooled Hela.

I would also add Forge to my team, upon further reflection. An additional spellcaster, and his inventiveness to create anything not covered by the other members' powersets.

    Cyclops - Leader
Quentin Quire - He finally gets to work with Magneto
    Magik - Demonic Sorcery, travel
    Rachel - Godkiller
    Magneto - Kid Omega's babysitter
Magma - I need someone to draw X's on the faces of the defeated foes.
Elixir - In case someone gets a lucky shot.
Monet - A self-confident, opinionated, rich, Muslim woman who can screw with minds? The Holy Grail of scariness as far as most of America is concerned.

My Extinction Team. They aren't necessarily the best team players, but more of a hodge-podge of ultra powerful mutants who totally dominate their opponents and intimidate the public and Avengers.

Cyclops (team wouldn't work without his leadership)
    Magneto
    Magik
    Emma Frost
    Juggernaut (Cain Marko)
    Legion
Blindfold (helps keep Legion in check)
    Lady Mastermind
    Wiccan
Top 10:Cyclops. Nightcrawler. Magik. Juggernaut (Cain Marko). Magneto. Hulk. Mr.Sinister. Emma Frost. Legion. Dr. Nemesis.

    My Extinction Team:

Storm (leader)-- versatile, leadership skills, powerful
Rachel Grey -- telepathy and telekinesis, and we saw what she did solo against some extremely experienced and powerful Avengers
Magneto -- powerful, genius, not afraid to get his hands dirty
Magik -- covers the magic weakspot with her own magicks, definitely not afraid to get her hands dirty...and if things go pear shaped can take the fight to Limbo and really cut loose
Juggernaut -- unstoppable and with none of Colossus' weaknesses (metal)
Shadowcat -- she can go anywhere...and she can disrupt electronics
Hope Summers -- if everything goes pear-shaped, she can start Mega-Manning and dominate
Magma -- earthquakes, makes volcanos, shoots lava, flies? she's a walking natural disaster and powerful
Warlock -- intelligent, instant tech support, can transform into anything, and if things go pear shaped can transmode an opponent and take them out of the fight
Storm Wolverine Nightcrawler Colossus Shadowcat Rogue Phoenix Magneto
Mirage Cannonball Karma Sunspot Wolfsbane Magma Magik Cypher Warlock
Jubilee Synch M Husk Chamber Skin

    Cyclops
    Magneto
    Magik
    Rachel Grey
    Rogue
    Magma
    Exodus
    Danger

Honorable mentions for Iceman and Storm, who have the power levels to fit in, but not the required attitude. This is supposed to be all about intimidation and that doesnt suit them.

Enjoying seeing all the picks of Magik too, always good to see an old favourite getting some page time.
