    If I understand you correctly then this applies. In Christian theology, the second part happened to avoid the first part.

    Or to use C.S. Lewis's allegory, Aslan suffered humiliation at the hands of the White Witch so Edmund could go free.

    Great answer and I do kinda agree that the second is more preferable if only concerning end-results that could happen on your end and the trickier part of the question becomes... now that God or your favorite real deity/idol or anything that is the embodiment of everything that has always been awesome and precious to you (except for up until after this point) is defeated/destroyed for good, who or what else is left for you to look up to and hang onto for the rest of all eternity?

    I really barely remember my Friendster account. When MySpace came along, I went there instead. I think I used to still get emails to come back and see what was "new" until maybe 4-5 years ago?
