Kid Loki was a reborn Loki without any of his past to hang up on him. But the lingering spirit of old Loki manipulated events so that Kid Loki created a powerful cosmic item. Mephisto was going to claim this item and rule everything. And so Loki forced his younger counterpart to erase his soul and replace it with Old Loki's soul. This would erase the powerful cosmic item and save everyone. So that's Old Loki using the body of his younger counterpart. And nobody knows it happened. Kid Loki died alone and unmourned and unloved.

While maybe not on the main book, I'd love to see a back-up short story drawn by Bryan.

I wouldn't be terribly surprised if the team itself isn't formed until the second, third or fourth issue. My guess is that this first issue will mostly introduce the main players, laying groundwork as to how their narratives will intersect.

Agreed. I'd contemplated re-reading Children's Crusade in preparation for tomorrow, but ultimately decided that it's best to approach this with fresh eyes. There's no comparison.
