I wasn't crazy about Selina being on the team (or any team), but I do like that. I always felt that if Batman was the World's Greatest Detective, then Selina should really be the World's Greatest Thief/Burglar. Now, if only her book would reflect that.I'm not spoiling anything when I say that she's the kind of person that can get inside any place on Earth and get out with something she needs. She's the best thief on the planet. There's no one better. She's better than Batman. She's got the kind of stealth that's better even than people with superpowers. Her personality clashes with Trevor and everyone on the group, but they still need her. She's probably the most vital character in the first arc, but every character in there is chosen for a specific reason.
DC: Batman Inc - Batman & Robin - Batman - Justice League - Justice League of America - A̶c̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶C̶o̶m̶i̶c̶s̶
Batman fights death, and Superman fights the impossible - Grant Morrison
I'm surprised to see Johns describe the characters in that much nuance. If only it actually reflected in the books.

How can she be stealthier than the guy on the team who can phase through walls and be invisible?
On another note im not really liking the art judging by those covers, Baz and J'onn look especially bad.
I do like the stuff about J'onn having a heart and conscience, was worried they'd throw all that away to make him more "badass".
The stuff about Green Arrow and Hawkman sounds pretty fun as does Stargirl.

I think one constant theme in the depiction of Martian Manhunter since the New 52 began is that J'onn is "outside" of everything. He is a true alien who operates outside of traditional or more mainstream channels. As someone whose never been a huge fan of the character, I have to say I really like this approach. Making him more alien, more mysterious to the point he's even a tiny bit scary makes him a more compelling character to me.
The point is, stealthy street fighters like Batman and Catwoman are in a whole different category than someone such a supremely powerful alien outsider as Martian Manhunter. Catwoman is breaking into buildings and stealing material goods. Martian Manhunter breaks into minds and steals your thoughts, ideas, memories and feelings. Comparing them literally is like comparing apples and oranges; they simply are not the same thing.
I don't like Finch's Baz, but I think he'll grow into drawing him. However, I love Finch's Martian Manhunter; he's bad@$$.
Love Green Arrow, love Hawkman, Katana, Vibe, Steve Trevor, etc. This is going to be a fun book!
So anyone want to take bets on who Stargirl gets to be hooked up with this time around?
Quick! Easy huge points for creating/editting/reorganizing/moving the entries for JL and JLA over at Comicvine. I'm still surprised it hasn't happened yet.
