I could be wrong.Sorry if I mislead you. There is a tendency to drop all the Ego crap on Blackmore and he deserved it but everybody in the band pulled stunts from time to time.
Excellent call on Turner being in Purple for awhile, I had no idea.

I guess when you get to the level that guys like Blackmore and Dio, Gillan, Coverdale, Hughes, Bonnet, etc. have you have to have a bit of the diva/egomaniac about you. If I had to guess, I'd say that Blackmore's ego/will clashed with some very talented signers over the years and his way of dealing with it is to either replace them or start a new band. It's certainly an example that two of his biggest protege's (Schenker and Malmsteen) have followed.

Glad I finally got the right title to you.I made about 3 corrections to my post before I added that.Check out Black Country Communion if you haven't already. Bonnamassa,Bonham,Sherinian, and Glenn Hughes.Currently On You tube is a complete download of their Live Over Europe DVD. I think it's great. Two cd's before it's release in 2011.

Funny that you should mention BCC, I started a thread on them a few days ago. Have you seen the video for Bonamassa's "Just Got Paid/Dazed and Confused" from the Royal Albert Hall? Holy crap that guy is good.

Glad to see that you have run across J.B. wearing his other hat.Balls On Blues/Rock. The newest DVD doesn't duplicate the same playlist and both are well worth getting. Royal Albert Hall was given to me as a present last year. Somewhere in his early discography( Bonamassa has a ton of records out there) he may have an acoustic blues CD. His studio release about 2yrs. ago Black Rock is quite good. The most recent one a friend of mine has I think called Traveling the Distance is great.I should look up these titles before I post here so I don't steer you wrong. So do you think any of my Fillmore era hippie bands will ever make Hall of Fame?Check out Cold Blood w. Lydia Pense one of the underated voices who still shows up on stage on the West Coast and still can belt it out.

The public library near my house has a copy of Bonamassa's You and Me album, and I've burned myself a copy. They also have a system here called freegal that allows users to download four songs a week for free, and I'm currently in the process of downloading the Bonamassa album (the one that kicks off with his cover of Rory Gallagher's "Cradle Rock").

I've changed my mind on Jonny Lang being any kind of replacement (even a temporary one) for Bonamassa, I can't stand his singing voice.

Remember the original vocal hook with Jonny Lang and the two big singles off the first CD was a 16 yr. old who sounded like a 50's something Black Bluesman. It was the gospel album that I thought was weak and may have thrown his career into a stall for awhile.Haven't heard anything by him since. I know there were some more recordings recently.Don't know what he sounds like today. Not that I think he should be Bonnamassa's replacement but check out Billy D and the Hoodoo's on You Tube killer songs and guitar.Guy has been around for yrs. but just surfaced with a Kickstarter project.By the way what the heck was Bonnamassa doing on PBS this week? Nobody told me about it so I missed most of it but it may be the Beacon Theater DVD. I just added this because my friend found out and DVR'ed it that it is a new Live In Vienna and features his acoustic guitar collection with him on stage.Going to see it this weekend hopefully.
