    Default Superior or Avenging??

Looks like Marvel (and Spidey fans) have what's called a "happy problem"----if you can even call it a problem, that is! Looks like both Superior Spider-Man #1 and Avenging Spider-Man #16 have garnered largely positive reviews but Slott and Yost are writing SpOck just a wee bit differently. Soooooooo........what do you guys think? Do you prefer SpOck's portrayal in SSM or AVSM?? Speak now or forever hold your peace (or at least wait until SSM #2 and AVSM #17)!

This is tough. I probably prefer the way Yost wrote him, but I prefer the Superior book over Avenging because I don't care for team-ups and Superior is where 'stuff happens.'

Both books have great writers and great artists, I don't think there has been a talent match up like this since Jenkins, JMS, Dedato and Ramos were on the books.

I might hold off on my vote until #2 of each is out.

Hard to say at this stage. I'm really liking SpOck in Avenging, but wasn't a fan of him in Superior #1. Having said that, I enjoyed the preview pages from #2 so I may ending up liking both books. More often than not, first issues are notorious for setting up a new status quo, unfortunately taking away a lot of the main action.

    Avenging, easily.
Nothing against Stegman, but his inking is not that good, meanwhile Avenging's line-up is sensational. Plus I enjoy Yost's writing more.

If you can afford both honestly go for both! If its a case of limiting to one I'd certainly say avenging. Superior double-ships and I assume finances is your reasoning, but SS Is the better title.

I wish that Yost would do a Spider-Man x Black Widow team-up adventure.

Haven't read AVSM 16 yet...but I'll admit I'm somewhat confused about what we're supposed to take away from Ock's conversion experience. I come away from ASM700 and SSM1 with an entirely different perspective. That's not necessarily a bad thing, mind you!

As far as Yost goes, I think he's the best mainstream superhero comics writer working for Marvel. He's got the Midas touch.

Well, considering we've only had one issue of each, I'd be hard pressed to choose one right off the bat. As a rule, I enjoy both Slott and Yost's work; on the one hand, Slott has a lot more Spidey under his belt than Yost. On the other hand, this also means that Slott's produced more Spidey work I was indifferent to, simply as a function of numbers. But if we take the position that Spock is a "new" character and only stories with him should be considered for the posed question...well, heck, I can't choose. There's only been one issue of each title out.

The real answer is a third option, Scarlet Spider.

Sorta how I feel. SSM is the flagship Spidey book (for now) but I think Yost is awesome on both Scarlet and Avenging. But with Scarlet not following the adventures of SpOck, I didn't include it here. Safe to say that all 3 titles are in my Top 10 and 2 of them in my Top 5!

While this is really hard to actually make an factual determination on with only 3 total issues, and 1 issue 2 preview, between the two books...I'm gonna go w/ Avenging. Both issues were winners, and more in line w/ what the end of 700 proposed as the future.

Yost's take was unbelievably better then Slott's. He seems like a much stronger writer when it comes to characterization, dialog, and pacing, and basically everything.

Υost writes Spock a little better but i have a guilty joy seeing Spock in Superior acting like a mad scientist.Storywise,Yost's writing makes better sense, but for pure fun,Slott is better.
