Well the Sith Battle Royale thread got me thinking about this.
Who are the ten overall most powerful and formidable Dark Lords in the Expanded Universe?
Well the Sith Battle Royale thread got me thinking about this.
Who are the ten overall most powerful and formidable Dark Lords in the Expanded Universe?
Let's see...
In no particular order, Caedus, Nihilus, Bane, Sidious, Exar Kun, Vader if his redemption doesn't disqualify him (although I'm drawing a blank on really good Vader feats)...
I kind of run out of good names after that.
I'm told the Sith Emperor had some neat tricks.
Naga Sadow too, but I'm unsure of how much was his own power and how much was his tech.
Putting that list in order is kind of a pain though. Caedus has some powers that make him really ridiculous in a scenario from accurate foresight over a ridiculous range, being undetectable, time travel and such, but he's not as overwhelming in a straight fight.
Nihilus, meanwhile, is mainlining a bunch of instant kill moves but is not really all that in a scenario due to his ultimately limited resources since he has no interest in getting more ships than the Ravager.
If you include dark side users who aren't Sith, I can probably get that list up to ten.
Suffering is a fact of life. You survive if you find a reason to endure it.
I used to think Nihilus was the most powerfull, but apperently EU Sidious and the sith emperor (Kotor) also got planetary ownage feats now.
I reckon the absolute top 3 is :
Sidious
Sith Emperor aka Lord Vitiate
Darth nihilus (in terms of raw power)
Honorable mention to darth vader for having the highest potential, which he never materialized.
The sith emperor probably has the most experience, being over 3,000 years old. and has nice tricks like possessing multiple people, he is depicted as a god and actually worshipped.
I also think Revan should eek out in a top 10. was locked in mental combat with the sith emperor for 300 years and even coerced the emperor in signing a truce with the republic.

Revan by reputation might belong but he was sorely lacking in feats which makes it hard to place him.
Suffering is a fact of life. You survive if you find a reason to endure it.
Is this actually true though? Maybe he had the highest potential among the force users of his era, but I only thought he was at like 80% of his power..but yet top Sith completely blow him away.
It is a shame he didn't get many feats. I also could of sworn there is a conversation in kotor 2 that mentions he could knock down buildings by just looking at them, but I could be misremembering.I also think Revan should eek out in a top 10. was locked in mental combat with the sith emperor for 300 years and even coerced the emperor in signing a truce with the republic.
Anyways the guy from Force Unleashed was pretty powerful, though he turned from being a sith so he might not count. Also I'm mostly basing that on his TK'ing the Star Destroyer.
A woman can move a lot faster with her skirt up than a man can with his pants down.
I can't recall any mention of that. But either way Revan got a ridiculous amount of hype in KotOR 2 because the Disciple is basically a fanboy and Kreia admires him. But Kreia isn't all that reliable when she talks about stuff she hasn't experienced herself. (Her hilarious hyperbole about the ancient Sith Lords being the most infamous.)
Galen isn't really a Sith, just a generic Force user who canonically ended up lightside. (Sith implies a certain amount of teachings.)
And he falls apart as soon as any good Sith looks at him because he has no counter to telepathy and some of the other guys can match his TK or otherwise bypass it. (Caedus, for example, doesn't have feats of that magnitude in TK but makes up for it by being able to mess up people's interior organs or brain.)
Suffering is a fact of life. You survive if you find a reason to endure it.
Zannah, Kaan and Dooku are -by implication and somewhat respectable feats- other potential candidates for the top ten. Marka Ragnos is also hot shit by reputation, but damn near a blank in terms of specific capabilities.
Darth Wyrrlock's daughtr in Legacy, a mere apprentice at the time, was capable of using TK to fuck with another Sith Lord's heart. She could ahve killed him if her father hadn't intervened.
Point is that she < her father << Krayt. Krayt also has Cade's ability to not only heal pretty much any injury, but to use the Force as a weapon on those weak points.
He's by no means a Top 5 candidate but Top 10 I'd definitely say.
Fair enough.
From what i read about him, he dominated about 8,000 sith lords (and used their power with his own) + ritual (we don't really know if this took a long time or not, but i guess most rituals aren't exactly instant to begin with) to do it. still though, after the whole ordeal he aborbed the entire planet (plus the sith lords) power.
It would be logical to assume he can do it under his own power now, unless it was a one time only ritual.

oh yea i know :(
I know in the new kotor game he holds and throws meteorites around like nothing, unless thats counted as game mechanics..
He also makes a big thing about being a force user who has truly mastered both the light and the darkside ( witness the power of the force in true balance, in his words )
Then there is the whole "darth bane finds a holocron from him and thinks he is awesome" thing.
but yea he has like 0 feats, its all just people talking about him and him accomplishing stuff against no-names and no-feats people.
the guy is the protagonist of perhaps the best star wars game ever made, they should give him more stories!
