While I loved the issue, I am one of those who really, really disliked the art. Not my taste at all and have to drop the book if this is the regular artist.

I actually have enjoyed the art up to now and prefer tighter, more... realistic art in my superhero comics. Give me Greg Land or someone similar in style - I just actively dislike loose, scribbley art (my technical term for it).

Unfortunate, too, as this had become one of my favorite monthly reads.

I actually liked the art this issue. Different when done right just sometimes in the series isn't good. My real issue is the ending twist that makes groan. Like why do writers have to do stupid story stuff like this, There feels no real point to it. Just feels really stupid.
    Save DCU from DCNU!

Q.: How can you tell when Dan DiDio is lying?
A.: When you see his lips move.

It's one thing to have a different style in art, but when you don't draw characters the same from page to page, eyes on faces are at near 45 degree angles in relation to each other (check the cab driver), some faces are barely human, and some scenes are like unfinished sketches, it's distracting. The story was good and had a lot of KSD's humor, but the sloppiness wasn't; if you're going to have a "style," make it consistent. Still, it's better than the incomprehensible mess that was his "art" on Onslaught Unleashed, particularly #4.

I'm pretty sure the story was good but I couldn't get past the art. Blah blah Greg Land, the art was bad. Sorry.

Then again, Kelly Thompson review so....

i want to like it. i loved the Osborn mini. i didn't mind the stuck in the past stuff. but the art's kind of a deal breaker, for me. they shouldn't have led with Soy. i'm spoiled, now.

Damn, it is not bad enough to ask for Land, bro.

I hope the Avengers storyline solicited for this spring's Captain Marvel issues help the book's sales.

I actually really enjoyed the issue. I like the occasional "day in the life" stories, and done-in-ones are rare enough to be a pleasure almost no matter what.

It was just solid fun. Nothing genre-breaking, but damned simple fun. I mean, Carol punches dinosaurs, expands on the supporting cast, and we get two guest appearances that arent a real big deal; just a couple friends and co-workers hanging out and trading advice. I love that stuff, it makes the universe feel more inclusive. The dialogue was sharp and fairly witty. What more can you ask for in a single issue of a comic?

And I liked the art. Sure, it was different from the norm and the eye for technical linework was nearly nonexistent, but y'know, it had pop. It was dynamic and hyper-sensationalized and I felt it worked in a really nice abstract sort of way, juxtaposed against this normal every day sort of tale. I can totally understand why it didnt work for so many, and maybe with a different storyline I would have agreed. Hell, maybe if the art hadnt been so horrid when anyone other than Soy was onboard I'd have agreed. But as it is, I liked it. I'd actually take this guy over anyone other than Soy we've seen on the title yet.

I hear sales arent very good on this book, but I hope Marvel gives it a shot and invests in it. I think there's real staying power for Carol in this new setup. The name works and feels right, the costume looks good; simple, strong, and it doesnt make her look like a stripper. Sh*t yeah, I'd like to see this book go somewhere.
