I think that the market will eventually bring prices down, if DC will do it before they cost themselves a large share of the market is the only question. In the end we all agree digital is the future.
Agreed Digital may be the answer in the future if not for the big two then for some smaller presses which can build their own following.

At the end of the day, DC and Marvel own Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, etc. and there's always going to be a market for those, so they'll be fine.
It doesn't matter what the writer, artist, or editor had in mind when they created it, or what they said in an interview;
all that matters is what is on the page.
