And don't forget that she says earlier that she only knows two or "perhaps three" people who can handle the hydra, and then promises that she can do it. That's pretty confident.

I also like that the "perhaps three," when you put it together with what you quoted, may imply that she's not sure Hal could do it, even though she could do it with his ring. I guess she still doesn't think very much of Hal.

Anyway, isn't it great to get Wonder Woman in so many books lately? Besides Wonder Woman and Justice League, several months of Batwoman, and now a Superman cameo, Superboy, a scene or two the Superboy annual, upcoming Superman books like Superman 19, and the Valentine's Day special. And Steve Trevor continuing to show up in Justice LEague Dark, and expected to show up in Team 7 as well as starring in JLA. It's a wondercopia.
It sounded to me like she "settled" for having to do it her way, which I find different.

I do find it nice she's appearing in more places! Although, it points out how secluded she feels in her own mag at this time. Also, I don't know but I think out of the possible 3 (Superman, GL, and ??) I think GL is probably the one that would have an easier time of discarding of the Hydra. Just bubble-it-up and FWISHHH into outer space. Of course, it wouldn't have happened that way had it been him. Too easy.

See there? If you can acknowledge that someone else's powers would more easily or obviously suit this challenge, why can't she? It shows humility and pragmatism--especially since she doesn't spend a page brooding about it, but immediately describes her own solution to the problem (and describes it in enough detail to sound proud or enthusiastic, to me). Nothing inept about that!

(Her word choice "I'd kill for..." is kind of funny, since she is in the process of killing something.)

To be honest, SL.. if I had speed rivaling that of Hermes himself, and strength rivaling that of (arguably) Superman himself I'd be picking up that Hydra by the tail, swishing him around over my head a few times for impulse and hurling it into Outer Space without feeling wanting of anyone else's powers. Instead, she gets her swords and plays with the dragon. Quite frankly, she was just doing acrobatics with a sword. i don't see why Batwoman herself couldn't have done THAT.

Oh, and while we're on Batwoman I'd like to point out something that you and I were discussing on a different thread recently. Batwoman is the antithesis of the Wonder Woman comic. The art is wonderful!, but... it's waaaayy too crowded with words! It's a pain to read!

I'd expect Batwoman to have trouble swinging a sword so hard that it would superheat and cauterize the wounds--or hard enough to chop the hydra's heads off. (It's a mythic monster, after all--not a garter snake.) And she might have gotten eaten while trying. I do think that with characters as powerful as Wonder Woman and Superman, we have to play along a little bit and suspend our disbelief that anyone could cause them serious problems. And really, how serious a problem does the Hydra pose for Wonder Woman, when she's finished with it after one splash page, without seeming to have been hurt at all.

I think it's beautiful to look at, even if crowded--though I do think the monologues can get just a little bit flabby and melodramatic.

Well yes. I was being a little sarcastic with the Batwoman comment, but that is the one thing I miss about Byrne. He had no problem with Wonder Woman going She-Hulk on someone's (or something's) a** if she had to. We know Wonder Woman is compassionate and resourceful, after all, that is what I admire about her. However.. once in a while it's nice to showcase her raw power and screw everything else. Remind us once in a while.

On the other hand, about the monologues in Bwoman. Yes, they can be a bit much to read at times. Information overload. However, it's nice to hear Wonder Woman's thoughts once in a while such as in the scene below. Too bad Azz can't give us this "judiciously"

It does so help to know the character a bit more sometimes, and it would quench some of the online complaints you see around here about her book a bit.

Well, last I heard humans can't swing swords fast enough to cauterize wounds...
