I really liked the Original masters of Evil which had Zemo, Enchantress, The Executioner, The Black Knight, Radioactive man, and the Melter.

I really like the original Masters of Evil, too, and I like how their story developed parallel to the Avengers: Zemo did the whole "complete roster change" thing before the stupid good guys even thought of it! Even after Zemo died, the Enchantress was stuck on earth and created Power Man and such, so the ongoing Masters of Evil plot lasted years and years.

One thing that has always struck a wrong note with me is the habit of giving these teams names like The Masters of Evil or the Injustice League:no matter how evil or unjust their motives or actions, they wouldn't call themselves something like that.

Perhaps not in "our" world, where motives must sadly be revealed in subtle tones ranging from "ash" to "granite." In the universe that our heroes inhabit, things are quite different. Happily, the democratic response to a Justice League IS as simple and satisfying as an INjustice League. Or a SINISTER Six. Or a MASTERS of Evil. And why not? It's escapism, after all. SOMEBODY has to play the villain. Wouldn't you prefer someone who's thoroughly dedicated to that cause?
