Default What's The Deal With These #1 Issues?

It appears as though there is an onslaught of #1 issues out there. Add the variant covers to this and it's nuts! Why is this? To name a few (I am sure I am missing some).
    Superior Spiderman
    New Avengers
    A+A
    Avengers Arena
    Young Avengers
    Captain America
    Indestructable Hulk
    Thor
    Iron Man
    All New X-Men
    X-Men Legacy
    The First X-Men
    Deadpool
    Fantastic Four
    Marvel Universe vs Avengers
    X-Cable and Force

    Whats going on????????????????

Has been going on for years at marvel under Joe Q. How many times has avengers been relaunched and how many offspring of the avengers franchise has there been since disassembled ? How many titles have been launched and then discontinued later and then relaunched ?

Do you remember the new 52 relaunch for DC?

Well this sort of Marvels version. Its called Marvel NOW!

Its basically a movement where marvel creators have shifted titles and are aiming to make one giant highly marketed jumping on point for new readers.

having a lot of number 1's will do it, so most of marvels line has done it (save for a few)

    heres a link: http://marvel.com/marvelnow?nav=1

The snarky answers are due to the fact that this has been the number one topic of discussion in fan circles, seeing as how its effecting everything more or less in marvel comics goings on and has been made a big deal.

But seeing as how you're a first poster and the type of question you've asked I imagine you probably aren't a marvel comic regular.

So... welcome aboard! there are a lot of new books just for you! I'd suggest Avengers Assemble staring with issue 9!

Unless you are a marvel regular to which I ask, have you been on any comic book related sites lately? I guess you would only be a person who picks up in the shop and has never reader these grounds because its kind of hard to avoid.
Steve Rogers: You ready to follow Captain America into the jaws of death?
James Barnes: Hell, no! The little guy from Brooklyn who was too dumb not to run away from a fight. I'm following him."

Thank you very much for the explanation and compassion! I have been out of the "game" for 20+ years and have gained interest with the "death" of my beloved Spider Man......... Any other info would be appreciated as the comic world has changed with teh variant covers............

    Thanks again!

What it all comes down to is... gimmick. What used to be simply a new story arc is now a renumbering of issues, because the drones that make up fandom like numbers.

Unfortunately I have to mention that it has worked as I've bought all their #1's including shit I wouldn't have never read simply because its a new jumping on point and I have a problem with buying #1's and I'm also the fundamental reason these companies launch #1's.

I had the same problem when DC launched their new #1's. Suckers like me.

I started reading again about 2 years ago, after about 25 years break. I only signed up here last summer. As I guess you've noticed, there are plenty of folks eager to show their disdain when you post your thoughts. Are you just going to buy the new stuff, or try to pick up where you quit?

I remember when having mint number one issues meant you had quite the pretty penny. Today's number one issues aren't worth a dime... Sad, really.
Hear me X-men! No longer am I the woman you once knew! I am fire and life incarnate! Now and forever...

And in the long run it's even more confusing. I had to use a reference lining up my Iron Man comics.
