Beautiful, I can't wait. When it's over I will reread the entire Medusa arc.
I am not going to be happy if the "new hero" is Bette with a new non-Flamebird name and identity. Will.not.like.it!
* But I love the art and story I see

Looking at JHW3's work on Batwoman always makes my jaw drop, a great story doesn't hurt either.

Yeah, I love Kate, but I want more for Bette too.
I wonder if the creative forces and/or management does NOT want this comic to seem/look etc like a female version of Batman.
2) younger partner, same gender
3) older "handler" confident trainer specialist etc. (Alfred)
I would love this if the new hero is still Flamebird, but different. I don't want her dark and hardened, maybe a little bit. Can't she just have new attitude?
I note that on Young Justice cartoon there is a Bette Kane, but it is not clear if they will make her Flamebird or not, though a hint has surfaced I believe. (don't watch this regularly.

Yes, while I realize it is of course Batwoman's title, I was hoping for Bette to be more of a Robin character in the book who brought some light to Batwoman's darkness. I was aghast that they felt they had to darken Bette up to make her more interesting. I feel like that would only make Bette more like all the other bat characters and remove the one quality that made her different. But I guess if they bring Bette back and she still has an upbeat do-it-for-the-right-reasons attitude I could still like the character. But until Bette herself defeats the mutant baddie that gutted her in arc one I fear I will always feel her story is an incomplete fail. Did Batwoman already take him down?
The writers are really acing with with Batwoman and Wonder Woman. I love how well written and beautiful their inner thoughts are. It's so refreshing and nice seeing Batwoman and Wonder Woman to look at each other with such great respect, looking up to one another. I would really love to see these writers take over Wonder Woman.
I think the only next is for Batwoman to patch up her relationship with her father. Perhaps, bar any strange revelations hinted at, she will. It most likely will be over the fact that Jake is - right now at least - a better person for Bette to learn from and to become a better hero.

I feel Williams and Blackman are doing what they can to make sure that Batwoman isn't Batman with XX chromosomes, and I guess they are still figuring out how a sidekick fits into that. I want more for Bette, but I'm not sure what that is. I'm pretty sure that Kate is less of a mother figure than Bruce is a father figure. I'm not sure what the age difference between Kate and Bette is, but I guess ten or fewer years. They are cousins, so they aren't as close as sisters, and weirdly Bette and Beth are both short for Elizabeth, which sort of makes her a replacement figure for someone who can't be replaced.
There is a lot that can be done with this relationship.
I hypothesize that once Williams drops the art, this book will improve. He is such a slave to his non linear style that I think it takes over the book. It can run the gamut from distracting to chaotic and exhausting. I don't think the page layouts can't help but push the story and plot sideways and off track at times. That being said, and I know to most on this board and perhaps fans of the book are huge fans of the art, but he is leaving anyway and now the story will have to shine. He will have to improve his talents as a writer or else the book starts to slip badly. I am such of fan of the character that I believe if the story continues to get better and more better plotted, this book will do nothing but gain fans. This is his chance to do show he can write his own stuff.
Reading the preview, I wonder what will happen when Wonder Woman leaves? The seemingly back and forth interior dialogue the two characters are expressing is great writing. It is fantastic and allows the writers to be poetic and takes us into emotional world much more deeply than what I have seen. The team has also done a wonderful job with Maggie and Kate trying to balance their quests to solve the crimes and their needs to express their deepening love. It is really getting great.
Next. Is DC capable of making a comic that does not end in half of Gotham City dying? I mean, come on. It is getting ridiculous. GC would resemble Mogadishu or Damascus by now.

It's going to be interesting to see where Batwoman's new secret headquarters will wind up being. Sucks the current one is gone now, it was the only other one besides the bat cave that was interesting. After all Nightwing just has his apt. and Babs, despite my love, just has a freakin' van. Super heroes are SUPPOSED to have fun and wild secret headquarters. I'm sure the DEO will find somewhere of interest for Kate though.

I am going to miss Williams' art terribly when he goes over to Sandman.
