Sorry, man. I know that can be rough. I moved out when i was 17 and didn't so much as have a single conversation with mine for a year. Best decision I ever made. It was about 8 years later I actually built any kind of real relationhip with them after that. Even now, we aren't terriblly close, but we know we're like famliy and stuff. I haven't spent a holiday with my dad since I was 12, but we're cool now. we just both have other lives. We just never did the parent/child thing so well.

I would be @#$ ing devastated if my kids and I wound up like that.

Yes, death to them all. The only survivors will be Wolverine & the Avengers who will then have to clone themselves repeatedly to guard Earth and fill out 60 monthly titles. The Wolverine 2.3 series is gonna be awesome! He hunts down and stabs other unsanctioned Wolverine clones.
