Never really got into Hulk books, to much smash, not enough drama. Is indestructible hulk a good start for a new reader who knows NOTHING about The Hulk?

I hopped on with Indestructible, and I've been loving it so far. I've not really felt that I've been missing anything, really. I say give it a go!
As good a place as any. Waid does a great job in the first issue of explaining where we're at, and where we're going from here.
"He actually amnesty them!"
Its as good a starting point as ever. Buy it!

I was in the same boat as you, and loving the ride so far. Fantastic entry point for new Hulk readers such as us.
Yeah, its brilliant and i don't rate Hulk too high.
'If you meet a loner, no matter what they tell you, its not because they enjoy solitude. It's because they have tried to blend into the world before, and people continue to disappoint them'
I really didn't want to get the book despite my love of Hulk AND Waid. It just felt like such a forced restart, again, with Incredible having only been just relaunched.
I wasn't going to buy out of spite to Marvel. However, DC cancelled a few books on me and some budget room opened up.
Three issues in and it's 2 out of 3 for me. Felt issue 2 was a colossal waste of time. Still too early to tell as great Hulk runs build and this isn't there....yet.

Thanks guys, I'll grab 1-3 somewhere and try it out.
How often does The Hulk appear in the new Avenger book?
Would it be worthwhile to grab Avenger issues as well or does Indestructible stand alone just fine?
I don't think he's made an appearance in Avengers yet. He has a fairly significant role in Avengers Assemble, though.
The story in Indestructible is completely self-contained at this point.
"He actually amnesty them!"
Which Avengers? You mean Hickman/Opena Avengers? Hulk is in that book. He doesn't have a ton of panels, but he played an important role.
See above. And also, Avengers Assemble has a cool Hulk!
As far as whether Indestructible Hulk is a good starting point, I'd say "yes." The art is well done, the pacing is very nice, and the Hulk/Banner interplay is done well. I don't read Hulk and I'm finding this entertaining. I'm not certain that it will make me a Hulk fan, but Mark Waid is doing a great job right now.
He's in it....but I wouldn't buy it if you're just in it for Hulk. Hickman's Avengers is going to be a HUGE plot-centric ensemble book with an 18-member team.
As per Indestructible, I'll echo everyone else: this is a perfect time to jump on. Waid is doing the same thing he did with Daredevil: it's not a reboot at all, but it certainly is a "refresh," so it's a perfect jumping on point. In fact, it basically acts as though Aaron's run never happened (Which, given how awful it was, is probably for the best).
