Default In Your Face Jam - Jan 16, 2013

Not unlike like Linus in "A Charlie Brown Christmas," Brett steps into the spotlight this week to explain to us all what X-Force is really all about.

Excellent article. Next time I run across a couple issues in the bargain bin I won't be passing them up. Plus, I loved Pollina's style.

Middle of last year I couldn't help myself and picked up most of the run, I love volume 2, and Uncanny and I found Liefeld's gibbon like scribble so funny in the first few comics. The ENTIRE run is an exercise in refinement, it's just wonderful.

I approve of this post. 90s Xforce was awesome. I remember that issue as well after Xcutioners song. It was a great run.

Agree. The book was a lot of fun and actually made sense once Liefeld was gone.

I've found myself buying some old X-Force issues I didn't get around to getting in the 90s from time to time. I guess I got over whelmed with all the X-books and needed to take a break.

It's strange, but of of XF I've ever read.--that one with the "Open Hand, Closed Fist" talk, is the one that stands out. XF lasted a long time for an X-Book without Wolverine being a regular or even occasional guest. Even Generation X couldn't quite approach the determination of what this early cast offered after Liefeld bolted. BTW--for the record, I have no use for Liefeld at all. His 3 creations of note required other writers to give them life and make us like them--Stan The Man he ain't.

SayOcean--while Sunspot wasn't mentioned ( and I LOVE Roberto, even when he is a jerk) he was a member again by X-Cutioner's Song. The OP just concentrated on Cannonball because Nicieza had done so--Sunspot was a background guy at the time--and in a HORRIBLE outfit. Anyway Sunspot's an Avenger now--check out Avengers #2 to see him join--it was hilarious.

Understood--but that reveals who the writer was more interested in--Risque, Siryn, Feral, Domino--see a pattern? the 90's were unfortunately also about butt-floss superheroine suits--BLEH

Could not agree more. X-Force from its roots in the original New Mutant to the semi franchise status now with two books has always been my favorite title. It really has been the most consistently good series since conception. I love that team.
What is this, Horseville? Because I'm surrounded by naysayers.

This was a very enjoyable read. I may have to dig out my X-Force books and give those a read.

Don't you mean Reignfire? They didn't wanna clutter up the article with his convoluted backstory.

Or is this another one of those "Wah, he/she is racist" things?

Thats becasue Sunspot was barley in the initial run. He didn't shine as much as the other charaters did at the time and for half those issues he was reignfire. And Adam Polina didnt draw skintight outfits, he drew jeans and baggy shirts.

Loved the entire series except for the counter x run, that was just trying too hard to be different. But I agree #19 was THE best issue of the series.
