Oh, ok. Going off the top of my head and not duplicating any books already posted, how about:

The Superman story from the 1990 Xmas special

    Action 800

    Action 650

Superman Adventures 11 and 12 (a 2 shot: sue me)
Pull List; seems to be too long to fit in my sig...

The debut of Cap'n Strong. DC homage to Popeye.

The famous issue for the wedding of E2 superman

A homage to the asterix comics as superman and Jimmy Olsen travel back to ancient times where a gaul village with a magical potion still holds out against the romans.

I forgot the exact title and number but it was Action Comics where he was with Phantom Stranger. He fought "zombies" and a sentient "land mass." Action Comics 775 and Metropolis Mailbag are also two of my favorite one-shots.

Action Comics #600 by Byrne, Perez and Mignola. Darkseid came off as a gloating idiot but the art was amazing.

Eisner Award-winning issue from Garth Ennis.

A really well-crafted issue from Kurt Busiek. Supes encounters a grandmother who takes to believing he's an angel.

Just finished Superman Adventures 11 and 12.

    Wow.

Really great story. When I get a chance I will dig out the two issues of Action you suggest. I am sure I have read them before, but not recently.

    Thanks for a great suggestion.
