It's the first team-up between Spock and the Mutants, and guess what happens when the Superior Spider-Man rubs shoulders with Homo superior? What, you think they'll get along fine? Ya think?!
spoilers:end of spoilers
Otto gets his first full-on taste of Spidey's superhero life when he joins up with Jonah's Anti-Spider-Man Patrol against a monstrous spider. He has trouble coordinating his mind and his muscles together; he notices the spider's human eyes and is about to take drastic measures when the X-Men arrive. And that's when the trouble starts as he considers them beneath him as genetic freaks, even the brainy Beast. Wary of Rachel's telepathy. He's actually making good use of Parker's memories of the x-Men, getting them out of harm's way plus his powers of observation lead him to the right conclusion about the spider being a mix of human, spider, and something else. The X-Men also pick up on his new mannerisms and speech. Spock eventually hits upon a plan to subdue the monster, getting help from Storm, which impresses everyone, except Wolverine senses something amiss; and they come to blows. As Otto explains how he subdued the spider, it morphs back to human form, and Rachel senses a tabula rasa within. Wolvie sneaks up on Spidey, immobilizes him, and orders Rachel to scan him. But with an inspired use of Parker charm, he guilt trips her about Steve Rogers disapproving of forced probes, and Wolvie relents. As Beast detects mutant DNA in her they wonder if Mr. Sinister is involved, but as Otto swings off, he comes to another, and correct conclusion: the Jackal, who makes a last panel appearance.
And you had to guess he'd/she'd/it'd show up again sooner or later.
Mutants, superior to Otto…?
