Why didn't the suit change when Superboy wore it?!

When Superman touched a Kryptonian artifact (I think it was in Action Comics) his suit changed until he let go of it, I'm not actually sure why. I haven't read H'El on Earth yet but I've checked out some art work. When Superboy puts on the suit it looks the same as when Superman wears it. Shouldn't it alter its appearance? To my knowledge Superboy has 1/3 Superman DNA so wouldn't the suit alter itself in appearance when he put it on?

The suit responds to kryptonian dna,not other dna,so it looks the same cause kon has supermans kryptonian dna in him.

The artifact wasn't Kryptonian.

The suit recognised him as Kryptonian and, specifically, of the House of El, but it hadn't settled yet. Five years down the line, however, it has.

The suit, as stephens2177 addressed, recognised he El-specific strands of Kon's genetic structure. As a result of this, Kal knows that Kon is of his genetic line.

Wouldn't be surprising if due to being part clone the suit is just assuming that Kon IS Kal, for all intents and purposes.

hmm...would that, perhaps, mean that the 'genetic compression' its imposing on him in order to repair the genetic damage H'El has done will make him 'more' Kryptonian than he was?

I was wondering about this too. If Superboy is coming apart at the DNA and the suit is repairing him as a member of the House of EL, will it make him more Kryptonian? It only seems to react to the Kryptonian DNA. It seems to think Superboy is Superman. So I'd figure it would try to "fix" him by making him like Superman. We'll see what happens though. It seems a little early in the series to be tweaking Superboy's powers.

Kon still has his TTK,thats what he is using,not kryptonian powers,the suit just locked up his powers,with the only way he can direct them outward is by direct contact now ala 90's kesel SB.
his kryptonian dna activated the suit,but it isnt changing him,just healing him,its made of super nanites that can heal the wearer.
When he his totally healed he will be the exact same as he was before,three donors,and using TTK again.

Did they ever explain why the suit reacted the way it did when he picked up the artifact?
