He kept Ares in the spotlight following the Oeming/Foreman mini. Even though his take on Sentry is divisive, we still have readers asking for Marvel to bring him back in spite of the other active Superman analogues running around.

While you can say he didn't elevate the Avengers brand itself, the lesser characters who joined up under Bendis have gotten more attention than they had in years.
Yeah, I think Bendis does a good job of putting the spotlight on lesser used characters that otherwise would be floundering in limbo.

And IMO that's a good thing, because even if you personally don't like what Bendis is doing, it vastly increases the odds of another writer using the character after him. A lot of people were critical of Bendis usage of Marvel Boy, but I'm VERY skeptical that Marvel Boy would be in Young Avengers right now if Bendis didn't use the character.

I love how everyone says that they loved DnA's work from "Annihilation onwards"

Annihilation (the single best part of the Marvel Cosmic Renaissance) was written by Keith Giffen
Hawkeye, X-Men Legacy, FF, New Avengers, Uncanny Avengers, Animal Man, Wonder Woman, Manhattan Projects, Fatale, East of West, Bedlam, Saga, Bandette

DnA were part of Annihilation. They wrote the Nova mini that lead into the main story. Many people, including myself, consider that to be the best tie-in/lead-in series.

I love how the editor of the books actually commented on page 2 of this thread and not a single person responded or even seemed to notice that he posted. These books haven't even been released yet. Give them a chance to see if the questions are answered and if they are good or not instead of writing them off 2 months in advance.

given how he normally responds to criticism and opinions there's probably a reason for that.

Eh, I'm sure Marvel Boy would be around in some form whether Bendis used him or not. The Marvel Boy Bendis used felt pretty badly portrayed and I still feel that he transformed Noh-Varr into this other awkward character that never felt the same and that's coming from someone who generally likes his stuff.

Creators like Remender and Aaron have a big affinity towards Morrison created characters like Marvel Boy and Fantomex.

Again I wish CBR was like Facebook, so I could 'like' this comment.

Before Bendis used him he was in Civil War: Young Avengers.

Aaron also used him although it was more concurrent with Brian using him in Dark Avengers from what I recall.

as I said, I think the blonde hair and blue eyes came with the nanotech powers he had back then...when he got rid of them in the Thanos series (Giffen, not D&A changed his look, BTW) his hair and eyes reverted to brown.

That's my No Prize submission anyway, take it or leave it. :)

We still haven't, years later, been given an explanation as to why Bug, not being in the Microverse, is the same size as all the other characters. Every time in the past before the GotG stuff, when he was in the Macroverse, he was the size of an action figure.

So yeah, I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for explanations.

It's possible he might be used somewhere (then again it's equally possible he might fall through the cracks and essentially sit in limbo along with the thousands of other characters who are currently residing there). Either way I don't think he would have been given anywhere near the spotlight he got on Avengers. Would he be in Young Avengers right now if Bendis didn't use him? I'm personally skeptical.
