Yeah, but they use that as a big part of the draw for the series, and at least the characters seem to admit to it and acknowledge it, though I would like some more variety in the main character and his ladies in Sekerei...I don't remember to much fanservice of ladies that aren't white or at least look it...there's Urd of course..that anime could always use more Urd, she's more fun than Belldandy imho.

I think Go Dannar was excellent with the fan service.

Iirc, that show even had a jiggle counter that you could play during the episodes that would count the number of times that the female character's breasts jiggled in each episode...

If fanservice is an excuse to cover up lazy writing, I am usually not a fan of it. I have found that the kind of fanservice that doesn't bother me is the stuff that happens and the character maybe doesn't seem aware that she's half naked, and she just keeps fighting or whatever. Stuff where a girl gets her boobs grabbed and is like "no, stop, eek!" over and over can be just plain creepy. Sexual assault, hilarious! Ho ho. A guy landing in a girl's crotch after a fall has been done to death-- the reaction isn't even funny anymore. Actually, sexual assault is really uncomfortable for me to watch sometimes (maybe because I'm a girl, I don't know) and in the wrong series it can really frustrate me. I LOVE the series Magi but I would love it more if Aladdin, the little 10-year-old protagonist, didn't randomly grope breasts all the time. I don't mind him LIKING breasts, but seeing him bury his face in a girl's bosom grosses me out. In one issue he is seen dry humping the leg of a bedridden girl, who then DIES IN THE NEXT BOOK OF HER SICKNESS. Sooo inappropriate. I really want to ask the mangaka what she is thinking, because nobody likes that crap. I think a good chunk of her readers are female, anyway. It just feels so forced and out of place to an otherwise stellar manga.

But in general, a little fan service can be kind of titillating, and it can be fun as long as it's in a story that can benefit from it. I am actually a huge fan of Queen's Blade (or was until Rebellion, bleh), but sometimes they go over the top. I liked how the women mostly looked older and had curves and weren't obviously children, but they had women of all shapes and sizes, which was great. They also didn't have men coming in and making sexual advances on them-- the entire cast (save one awkward little boy) is basically comprised of women, so if you get any sexual advances toward characters it's girl on girl (and I'm a yuri fan, so that works for me, heh). They don't seem to notice when they've lost body armor, they just keep fighting. That stuff is all right to me. They got pretty creative with their fan service (acid squirting boobs? haha, fantastic).

I actually use fanservice in my webcomic because I am specifically targeting a 16+ crowd, but I am careful about which characters show skin and in what situations. Sometimes characters are naked and it isn't necessarily for sexual purposes, but I have a character who is fairly confident in her body and she will walk around in revealing clothes sometimes. I also have characters who would never do that, though. It's really hard to do an upper shounen/seinen comic in Japan though and not have a little fanservice. Editors will ask you to put it in.

Now, I know this isn't Rumbles, but...

Proof (a name to verify at least), or your webcomic doesn't exist.

Now that's interesting to know, though not actually all that surprising.

    Haha, okay. Here's the link:

The comic's name is FaLLEN and it's censored with little leaves whenever there is nudity but in the printed versions they are uncensored. The main character is a pretty butch-looking girl, but there's a more voluptuous girl after you get through a few pages. It's still kinda new so only two chapters are up, but yeah... check it out :D

Last I knew Queen's Blade was going to be made into a MMO, a new MMO called Scarlet Blade is about the same thing...with the ladies about as scantily clad...Queen's Blade is fun for obvious reasons. IF the fanservice is of female characters that look overly young then yeah it's creepy, as for the violence, there are several fanservice anime with women fighting and during the fights their clothes seem to have a habit of getting ripped in all of the right places...like in Ikki Tousen(hope I spelled it right) and then there's like a five episoe one called somthing like Master of the Marital HEarts that's ladies fighting ladies with plenty of fanservice.

    It has its place.
There are shows that can accomodate it well (Highschool of the Dead ^_^), others where it just looks awkward.
I'm trying to watch A Certain Scientific Railgun and I love the premise or how the girls use their powers but the fanservice really takes me away from the story... not to mention it prevented me from introducing the title to my niece who was enjoying it quite well.. up to the part where they get to the female baths and I had to pull the plug faster than you can blink.

No I really don't see a need for it. There has been some almost good anime that have been ruined because of the need for fanservice which I find quite sad; eg. striker witches was a descent anime with some potential but the fanservice I found really destroyed the enjoyment of the series.

Now if the anime called for fanservice because the main character is a pervert then add it in but make it so it flows with the story and not just panty shots for the sake of panties.

Do you mean the shower scene? I didn't think that was fanservice just a part of the story to show that Kuroko likes Misaka but I can see why you wouldn't want your niece to see that but its not overly fanservce like panty shots - they were after all in the shower room.

You might want to consider Magical Lyrical Nanoha as a good anime about magical girls - there are 3 seasons.
