I'm still amazed they didn't try to revive interest in Hawkman with the JLA launch. The stupid title in a way allows them to axe and relaunch it as Hawkman #1.

If they kept Joe Bennett, and Art Thibert on art I wouldn't mind much. It couldn't get anyworse story wise.

Joe Bennett's art on Hawkman is really stellar. He is being TOTALLY wasted there. Please, please get him on another title before it's too late.

I believe he's doing work at Marvel now.

I suspect Hawkman and Firestorm won't be long for the world, either. I wouldnt' give them more than two or three issues more (past the solicits).

Heh, I was just thinking Joe Bennett would be cool to see on a Firestorm book. I actually wouldn't be surprised if they were both canceled by summer time, but I feel that those two books could be so good with the right creative teams.

What a waste, I would have loved to see him draw a good Hawkman book.

Hopefully Johns will fix Hawkman in JLA. Maybe rotate the backup feature to him after some time.

When did he start drawing Ultimates? I can't stand Humphries run.

Its a fake solicit. DC has done that before, they put the name of an artist from marvel in the solicit that happens to be either marvel exclusive or drawing something in marvel.
Point is, I doubt he would be drawing the covers and interiors for Hawkman in issue 18 and 19 and yet still have the time for 2 issues at marvel. They probably tried to poach him but things didn't work out.

I guess the thing with Asrar was different. I doubt Bennett can have the ability to draw 3 books in a month.

Anthony: So how long were you at Marvel before you moved over to DC? Why did you leave?

Joe: I worked at Marvel for 10 years. I left to work at DC to realize another childhood dream, and that was to draw Batman. It’s been 8 years and they still haven’t given me the opportunity to draw BATMAN. But I am drawing Hawkman and I got to do a few of the 52 books and a Deathstroke limited series that’s now a trade paperback. I’ll be going back to Marvel soon and I’ll still be with DC working on HAWKMAN. HAWKMAN is a great character I really love doing that book.

Anthony: You're kicking butt on Hawkman...really amazing work. You've given the book a very epic feel.

Joe: I wish I could do more...but it does not depend only on my efforts...HAWK is an epic character. He asks for that kind of treatment

Anthony: Yep... and you've given the book a very Star Wars meets Avatar epic scope to the visuals.

Joe: And DUNE also... I love the visuals in that movie.

Anthony: Now you're also going to be doing work for Marvel again— The Ultimates. What issue are you going to be jumping onboard with?

Joe: I really don’t know yet. They’re writing the first script. I’ll be doing a short Loki story first. I think my run on THE ULTIMATES starts in a couple of weeks.

Anthony: How do you prep for doing a book like The Ultimates? It's a team book with a lot of different characters. Do you just jump in and draw it without much prep?

Joe: I was born prepared to do comics, dude. I sit in my chair and start drawing—No more. No less.

    So he'll be on both.

I love the little dig at how crappy the title has been.
